In general, I love this game, but the total lack of a balance mechanic in crossfire is often completely unbearable, and more or less game-breaking. There are a few key problems: When a totally new lobby is started, the teams are made seemingly at random (or linearly), with no notion of balance at all. If one team is totally lopsided and wins in a matter of minutes, no effort is made to rebalance the teams, and the same imbalanced game will happen over and over again. As a result, people on the losing team leave, forcing players searching for a game to be thrust into an underpowered, undermanned team, and potentially being stuck there playing a long series of unbalanced games, which certainly isn't what I want out of my gaming experience. This is a problem on a few levels. If you leave a game and try to rejoin, you can be stuck back in the same bad situation. Moreover, even if you land in a more balanced game, the turn-around time can be huge (often 5 minutes or so), which really takes the fun out of things. Honestly, I'd really appreciate it if you could just try to balance based on levels. I understand that levels aren't the perfect indication of skill, but it is certainly a good heuristic, and is way better than zero balance effort. When I have a game with 5 players between levels 0 and 40, and the other team has 4 level 99 players, something is clearly wrong, and the game will never be fair. I understand the importance of keeping parties together, so I would say don't split parties for the sake of balance, but at least do whatever is possible to balance around parties. Ultimately, I'm just shocked that a game of mnc's size and stature doesn't have something like this already. I've turned a lot of friends onto the game, and many of them are immediately turned away based on the imbalanced games they are thrust into, especially as newbies. Hopefully you awesome Uber folks can make something happen = ]
im glad. i hope the patch does a good job of balancing. i didnt mention it before because... im really forgetful, but i do complain myself about this often. c&c renegade would offer players a chance to change teams with a fresh character and beginning money if teams were inbalanced in game. the original call of duty would announce it would balance teams in 15 seconds and then force someone from one team to another to balance it. either of these would be acceptable (mind that when forcing people from one team to another, the server should choose someone who already died recently/had low cash/didnt invest in turrents) it would be nice, and i think possible to update, to have some method of team balancing. not to split up parties or anything. one idea is to divide lone players of similar rank on opposing teams at first, and then after a game put the resulting winners with losers for next game's teams (rank doesnt always equal skill as much as playtime). so take the top two people last game and put them with the bottom two people, making each team contain people from both ends of the score board, so all the pros with top scores arent all on hotshots or icemen.
I don't think it is? Also, welcome to the forums manatee, Played a few games against you earlier today.
Its not........ Oh by the way, I played with you Bolt. But my 20$ ISP was working on the lines here. So i kept getting kicked out of the game.
