    The AI finally has the capability to build things.

    It is still really early, but the AI is coming along nicely. :)

    Note: The AI built the factories and air units, not the econ.

    if you have two AI in the same spot they build buildings on top of each other. :lol:

    Nope, the buildings that are given to the AI are spawned on top of each other. The building code, if it was used in the live build, would prevent building on top of other structures.

    Nice. I'm looking forward to seeing its intelligence evolve...

    So currently it just does air factories and units?

    Yeah, but getting it to build other stuff wont be difficult, for the most part.

    The difficulty is going to be getting it to intelligently pick what to build.

    Sorian is there any chance that this game will get an adjacency bonus?

    IF not what spacing will you make the AI build? more like a player and thus jammed together. Or everything spaced out as we see it doing in the pictures and hwo the buildings are spawned?

    would you personally like to see a supcom inspired adjacency bonus?

    it would be amazing to see the AI intelligently constructing lines of defence at pinch points or strategically viable locations

    Skirmish AIs tend to be boring to play against as they would just build defenses at random. In command and conquer, anyway

    Does the AI still build the current base template? 4x air factories (or how much facts they have atm.) or do they also build some ground facts now?

    First of all: COOL :D

    Do the randomly generated maps have AI markers by the way ? guessing no ?
    How will the AI know where is a good place to build defences and things ? can it recognize terrain advantages like chasms and mountains and mesa`s ?

    We have discussed visual adjacency as a possibility, as it can be really cool. Actual bonuses from adjacency is a HUGE pain in the butt to balance and limits how you have to build your base, which frankly.. kinda sucks. :)

    Agreed. In theory I would have thought this should be able to be implemented. The AI could for example look for choke points by referring to the flow field cost maps and then string defences between impassable terrain...

    This is likely to be ridiculously hard to implement, but it would be cool to have the AI build defences reactively too - if it had to fend off an attack from a particular quarter it might then reinforce its defences at that point. The logical conclusion of this would be an AI which plans defences in the way a human does: by looking at their own base and thinking "how would I attack this?" I think at that point though you'd be pretty close to actual artificial intelligence though xD

    I think we would be fine if it just showed resource tubes connecting bases with said pipe lines. Supcom bases look so awesome when the AI makes them. If there are bonuses that come from them eh.

    but if no bounses then one could make them connect at greater distances instead of just when other buildings are close.

    Just air at the moment. They build as many factories as their economy can support. So, if you cheat and spawn in more econ, they will build more factories.

    Elijah and I have been talking about this quite a bit. No solid plans have been made yet.
