Few questions about some systems

    Okay so this forum is as good as any to unofficially announce this, but:

    Me and at least one or two other people are going to be making a faction mod. I don't want to give many details yet (especially since modding is not yet supported in any significant form), but here are a few questions I have related to various features:

    • Will units have triggerable abilities accessible through a button on the display/a hotkey?
    • Will units be able to switch layers a la SupCom subs?
    • How feasible will it be to allow constructable orbital platforms that you can then build stuff on? I.E. small constructable asteroids, that you can then command
    • How flexible will the Intel system be? I.E. what if we wanted to implement a "ping" style radar over constant detection? Would that be doable?
    • Visual effects. I know there are particle emitters implemented. What about poly trails? What's the file formats/tools? How do we add lights, either as part of a projectile glow or timed with impact/launch effects? Details, i want details :D
