    Hey guys

I've been trying to set up a local game over my home network. We have a quite slow connection so using the local server sounded great, use the local gigabit LAN with no internet needed. We set up the lobby, launched PA:T on the other machine and tried to connect in. Each time I got a message saying "could not connect, returning to main menu".

Could someone be able to point me in the direction of a guide, or the steps for creating a multiplayer hosted locally over LAN please?

    Thanks

Well, that should have worked. The only reason for it to fail could be using the same name to connect or firewalls. Try starting PA in offline mode, and type a different name in the UberID field. No password required.

And just to put all of the steps out there:
    • Start PA in off-line mode on the one machine.
    • Type in a name in the UberID field.
    • Go to multiplayer -> custom game.
    • Click create game (the checkbox for local game should already be on).
    • Set the server to public.
    And of the other:
    • Start PA in off-line mode on the other machine.
    • Type in a different name in the UberID field.
    • Go to multiplayer -> custom game.
    • The local game should be visible here, join it.
If all that doesn't work, try disabling the firewalls on both machines to see if maybe those are interfering.
