Some RTS had the option to scroll with the mouse: You hold down the right-click and then you move the mouse. The more you go further from the center the faster the scroll is. I find it to be one of the best way to scroll. Also this wouldn't hurt anybody because poeple that want scroll with more tradional way they will just ignore it. Sorry if this has been already discussed
Aren't "Right Clicks" typically used for unit commands? And "Right Click Hold" for context sensitive commands (like the paint a group of targets from SupCom2) I'm pretty sure the Right Mouse Button shouldn't be used for map movement. Middle Mouse Button (not scroll-wheel up or scroll-wheel down) is a better option, No?
I like the middle mouse button idea. It kinda feels like they were using the keyboard to rotate the planet honestly. I'm sure this is one of the things that will get lots of attention so no need to worry.
I don't think there is a point in discussing if middle click, right click or F12 is the best key for this. It should be rather easy to change later on -hopefully even configurable by the user-, so let's just wait and try it out.
Middle mouse button is used for things like Google Maps, Earth, AutoCAD and other 3D programs. And has been used for scrolling since the early days of the internet. I definitely think it's the best choice
yes middle click for scrolling and space bar for rotating? I'm cool with that. (now to get a mouse with a non-broken scroll wheel )
Be sure to make it bind-able though. Some players (like me) prefer not to use the middle mouse button for frequently-used functions. (I usually do mouse3/mouse4)
