Sorry for adding yet another feature suggestion, but this one may be something to consider. Sins of a Solar Empire had a very handy UI feature called the Empire Tree, which showed a concise list of all your planets and any buildings or units at each specified planet, along with a simple view of their status. I always remembered thinking that this was the one feature that would make SupCom's unit management a bit easier, especially for larger battles. Well, now that PA will be spanning multiple planets, a similar UI feature would definitely help keeping the player's ever growing army in check. For a quick example of how it's done in Sins, check out the screenshot: http://www.keenandgraev.com/wp-content/ ... 2/sse2.jpg For those who aren't familiar with it, the empire tree is the large list of icons that takes up the very left hand side of the image. It displays each planet, the buildings and capital ships at the planet (along with their health and other important indicators), and pips representing all the minor units. The tree can also be filtered to show only specific types of units, or to hide certain planets, making it easier to focus on the things you need to see. In any case, since PA is an RTS rather than a 4X game, a similar implementation would not need to be anywhere near as complex as what Sins has, but it would definitely give the player better control over their army. I realize that implementing something like this would take a bit of work, but I thought it would be a good idea to mention it, especially early in the development phase.
