It would be really cool if walking and tank units could wade in the water and have battles there. In the context of amphibious transport assaults, I already mentioned allowing units to get off the transport in the shallow water for a more impressive landing effect. I really think this effect could make the game feel that much more immersive.

It also allows for some additional strategic and tactical possibilities, like a submerged bridge that land units can cross and submarine units can attack.

Re: Feature: Effects: Let units walk in puddles and near bea It's actually fairly trivial, since from an engine standpoint, where you "see" the water is seperate from where the engine "believes" the water is. They are both just height levels. If you drew the water a bit higher, and then told any unit between that height 'X' and X - maximum depth to display wakes and ripples and splashes, it achieves exactly this. It could be done in Sup Com too quite easily by modifying the unit footprints file.
Re: Feature: Effects: Let units walk in puddles and near bea Numerous. Essentially any map that has both water and land also had shallows regions that land units could go through. If you'd like, I'll go and make a list of some that have that type of terrain.
Re: Feature: Effects: Let units walk in puddles and near bea The most notable map for demonstrating this was Ring Atoll: The light blue areas were shallow water and could be crossed by land units and smaller ships. The dark blue areas were sea, and white/yellow areas land. Being underwater also meant they took less damage, as more shots and weapons hit the water instead of the units.
Re: Feature: Effects: Let units walk in puddles and near bea Okay so I noticed that units could also go through the water in Supreme Commander, but you can't even notice unless you bring the camera really close. What I meant was to actually show the water splashing so it looks real. There is none of this in Supreme Commander.
