Whenever i try to launch the game, i get an error saying "Fatal error: Unexpected failure to initialize Coherent UI subsystem. Please contact support@uberent.com". Nothing i have tried has worked. I have updated my drivers. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, nothing seems to work. I have run this game before, but the only problem i had was the resolution seemed to be wider than the screen, and changing the resolution didnt help.

Could you upload a DxDiag.txt? You can make one by pressing <WinKey>+R, typing "dxdiag", and pressing "Save All Information...". Upload the resulting file here using the "Upload a File" button on this forum.

Thanks! Yeah, that looks ok except that it claims "Crashed in DirectShow (stage 1)". That doesn't sound too good.

Anyway, two things to try. I noticed you have custom DPI setting. In the past PA had some trouble with that, and I am unsure if it ever got fixed. So could you try setting the DPI to 100% again and see if that helps? (See here for instructions)

Another thing you may want to try is run sfc /scannow, which will scan your system files for corruption. That may be helpful in light of the crash reported in DxDiag. Instructions are here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833
You should reboot after having done that.

I tried both and neither had any effect. My SFC said there was no violations, and i got the same error running my dpi at 100%

The reported crashing of DxDiag concerns me a bit and I wonder if that is part of the problem. Could you try reinstalling DirectX 9.0c? You can get is from Microsoft here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=34429

If that doesn't work, can you also try this one? Also from Microsoft: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

Still not working. One thing that has been kinda rare is that when i start it, i have a blank black screen. I get the pop up in the corner saying steam is enabled and such, but thats it. After updating Direct X, it has done that same thing twice in a row, which it hasnt done before.

Weird thing is that once i try launching the game, im not able to verify any any of my game from Steam. Even if i shut down all of steam through task manager i still cant verify any of the integrity of my games.

Can you try disabling the Steam Overlay and see if that helps?

Another thing that you may want to do is to check the list of incompatible software. Some software that does things with OpenGL can mess up PA. The list is here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/233250/discussions/2/558751813508748383/

That's... kind of bizarre. I probably means that part of PA is still running in the background. Though that really shouldn't affect other games. Anyway, check in the process viewer if there are CoherentUI of PA processes still running and kill those. Do you get a specific error if you try to verify?

It says i need to close all games and tools before verifying. Ive looked in my processes to see if i could find anything, but i didnt see anything from steam or PA.

One thing i saw on the list was stuff about adblockers. Im pretty confident i have ad ware on my computer. A lot of times when i click on a link, it will send me to another site than what i wanted. It hasnt done that lately, but im sure stuff is still messed up somewhere.

Well, that would mean that part of PA is still open. So you are sure you didn't seen any CoherentUI processes? I think they are called CoherentUI_host.exe or something like that. The fatal error probably leaves remnants lying around. After a reboot and without starting PA, the integrity check just works, right?

I don't have much experience with adware, but you could try on of the malware scanners such as Malwarebytes or something like that. Just for the general sanity of your computer. I don't think it will make PA work for you though.

I am wondering if you could try redownloading the NVidia drivers from http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/83819
So first completely remove the NVidia driver using the Control Panel and any other NVidia stuff you find there. Then reboot, and reinstall the freshly downloaded drivers and reboot again. Try the dxdiag thing again afterwards and see if you still have the "Crashed in DirectShow (stage 1)". Then try PA again and see if it works.

Well, whatever we are doing is making changes. Now i can validate without issues. I use Nvidia's Geforce Experience. It keeps my drivers up to date, while removing the older things. Should i still try doing it manually?

Well, the experience program should indeed take care of that. You can try to do it manually to see if that makes a difference. But before you do, could you try using the UberLauncher instead of Steam to rule out that it isn't Steam that's doing something funky? You can get the UberLauncher here: https://store.uberent.com/download/pa

Looks like it is an issue with steam. I was able to log on no problems. I think i had the same UI problems, but that is most likely because i put my display at a higher percentage.

I wonder what Steam is doing then... The only thing I can think of is the Steam Overlay, but you already turned that off, right?

Im not sure how to turn that off. You are referring to the whole shift-tab correct?

EDIT: I found it. Yes it is most definitely the steam overlay. Once i turned that off i was able to play.
