King's field series.. this is what dark souls and demon souls was before the switch to 3rd person from 1st person. I highly recommend the series... I remember playing the original King's Field. FUN game. One of the first games me and my roommates got on our original PS. Also, one of my favorites, other than the original Ridge Racer.
Its the only game that you must have a memory card as you die way more often then any other game. The ps2 one was my favourite story wise though the ending was ruined by the horrid boss fight. The psx kings fields had that creepy feeling of death and fear like playing resident evil or silent hill in the dark. that giant kraken still gives me nightmares
Just to warn you.. If you think dark souls is hard this is a whole new ball game. its got a slower hit and move combat system where you get very fustrated at times.. Theres also many traps that kill you from openning hidden doors to falling through floors.
I didn't really consider Dark Souls hard, but I'm not sure how well I'll do with the Kings Field games just because I'm not a first person... person. I like being able to see where my legs are.
I recommend playing it on a emulator like epsx if you can.. runs 100x better and faster and smoother.
