You may want to put a small pillow either on your head or hand before reading all this. Now for this next one I'm just going to use Cracked.com's explanation because I don't think it's possible for there to be a better one: Obviously you probably feel utterly horrible now. So here's an adorable picture to balance it out:
I think my favourite is still "is our children learning?". We all knew George Bush was... Shall we say a bit daft. But until we had that quote, we misunderestimated just how daft.
And just think, the Australian citizenry voted the Coalition into government. I don't hold much faith in people.
I dunno, my daily dose of losing faith in humanity was that other gun control thread. Come to think of it, I wish I wasn't losing faith in humanity on a daily basis. I'll just wait till I find a cute pug picture or something to bring it back
You know, I would be cursing humanity at this one, if it were the first time I'd seen it. (remember kids, volcanoes are caused by global warming!) (also, look at Bill's face at 0:35. That is the face of someone just ready to give up)
please PLULEEEEEEESE tell that to Neil deGrasse Tyson he's WASTING his entire life (the life of a genius) clearing up debates that are utter wastes of time against creationists, because he has to. because it's the first pawn. the first move that has to be done before anyone in the profession of science can be allowed to move foward.
Someone always has to be the first, but it's hard to BE that person. Kudos to Bill and Neil for pushing their facts against blind faith
Please don't take this as an affront, but since when have creationists stood in the way of progress? I'm not screaming for the space program to be killed because humans were meant to live on Earth......and neither is any other creationist...... Also, Einstein was a creationist. As was galilieo, and copernicus, and newton. I just wish my fellow Young Earth fanboys would stop trying to argue with the other side. Both sides have direct and concrete evidence contradicting the other side's point, but both also have circumstantial or theoretical evidence saying their beliefs are valid. Just stop, it's a never ending circle.
Believing that God made the earth and believing that he literally made the earth in 6 24 hour days a few thousand years ago are two different things where the former does not have to be accompanied by the latter. Did the mentioned people believe in the former only or in the latter as well?
I do not believe they can be separated, but I know there are folks who believe they can be because they also believe macroevolution is irrefutable.
"macro" and "micro" evolution refer to the exact same thing. The only difference is the time scale. Speaking of which, there is no other scientifically confirmable explanation for the biosphere.
MicroEvolution is the evolution of a species to adapt to the environment around it. MacroEvolution is the extrapolation of MicroEvolution that assumes species can evolve into entirely new species given enough time. One has concrete evidence proving it to be fact. The other is pure conjecture based on theory and some circumstantial evidence. Also, what exactly do you mean by that last sentence? There is no scientifically confirmable explanation for the biosphere, period.
