I get the "Failed to Retrieve Game List" error all the time, the only thing I can do is keep trying to press "play" until it finally works. Not sure if this helps or not but the message also shows just before the "login accepted" message shows when entering an actual game successfully too. I did actually have a screenshot and/or could link to a video of the error but apparently I'm not allowed to post links.
