Are there any difference between the factions? I saw a topic about the new faction and the commander looks different and got lore and stuff like that, but are there any difference between the factions at all? And will it ever be? Sorry for the noob question but dident found an awnser on this one. :/
You should do a search. This is asked and answered all over the place, including the FAQ which is stickied. There will be only one unit set. Will it ever be? Maybe. Who knows. One unit set is a good thing though.
OK, I'm fully aware of the fact that we all get the same unit set, so what actually is the deal with factions? I see various posts about the lore and stuff associated with them, but what actually are they in the context of PA? I think I missed an episode between factions not being a thing and the various announcements about faction lore and names and stuff. I don't feel like this question is really answered in the FAQ. As far as I can see the only question about this subject is: Will there be multiple factions/races? No.
I think factions will be related to the single player and general multiplayer (Probably not clan wars) galactic war campaigns. So you probably pick a side and then try to destroy the other factions in galactic war. I think there may be a story that unfolds as you make progress, but we don't really have a lot of details on this.
I think it would be cool if each faction had a slight visual difference to the units, even if it was just a large marking or something. Just to set them apart.
It would be very cool, you're right. I think the issue there is that it would only matter in galactic war matches, so that's really a lot of texturing work to do for very little gain. The commanders can look different though! *Edit* Some possible commander art. http://www.uberent.com/pa/custom-commander-survey/ I'm hoping each faction will only use commanders from a single class.
Oh, that's cool, I hadn't seen those commanders before. From what I can gather the whole faction thing seems a bit up in the air currently as to what it is exactly, then.
Factions are all political/ideological. Imagine if America had another civil war. You might have the Republicans versus the Democrats. They're all Americans, so they look exactly the same, but they're fighting each other nonetheless. [EDIT] And one would be paying their commanders less. ;P That's what I think when I hear Uber say factions.
Honestly, after years of pining for WC2 to be re-released without avail, I greatly enjoy a nice, symmetric RTS.
Simply put factions in pa is a "'mere" lore and backgroundstory type thing There wont be any impact on gameplay afaik Every commander/player has access to the same unitpool
