I'm just using the update as a landmark, but after it I have been having some huge lag and hit detection problems which leads to me emptying entire clips into people and doing nothing. Sometimes i get a good match but almost all the time the lag is horrible, especially after 3 oclock into peak times. Is the server load being too stressed or something? My nat type is open and I'm all good there, it's just frustrating that the game experience is ruined by me seeing that stupid shield and doing no damage
The update went live at 10AM this morning, well before we made the announcement. So I don't think that's your lag issue.
I hate to agree on something this subjective, but comparing playing today with plkaying yesterday my roommate and I have both noticed: - more instances of lag and jitters - instances of the "network unplugged" logo which neither of us had seen previously - many more "migrating host" messages and many more losses of session I know MNC is an XBLA game, but other team based shooters such as Halo 3, TF2, Lost Planet, etc never seem to have these issues. I've never been lagged out of a game in Halo.
I've played the game every night since it came out and I've had lag issues every night. Tonight was by far the worst, though. So much lag, so many weird issues, like: trying to build a turret and having nothing happen missing turret nubs being in one place one second and a completely different place the next missing grapples that looked like they hit legitimately missing a lunge/grapple combo (and soaring past the target) then suddenly warping back and having gotten the grapple host migrations leading to everyone or almost everyone else being gone (including an empty opposing team) after the migration etc etc) Don't see how the tuning you guys do could have caused this increase in lag and other weird issues, but tonight did seem a lot worse than previous nights.
It looks like your post came at 7am Today, Tuesday the 24th, so I assume you mean the night of Monday the 23rd and into the morning of the 24th it was bad, right? Anyway - yes. Last night was the first truly awful experience with MNC I've had. Every game, for me, had similar issues. - rock-it turrets that normally appear as soon as the game starts were NOT there - I tried to upgrade my b button ability to level 2 and, even though I paid the money for it and my HUD displayed level 2, it clearly remained level 1 (took forever to reload and I could only toss one air strike at a time) - I also would skip around the map without having tried to move one way or another - severe lag in general I was thinking that maybe since it was Monday Night and there were tournaments, a lot more people were on than usual so there were network issues. Either way, it would be nice if Uber could explain what happened because last night was exceptionally bad.
I have to agree with this, I have been having tremendous lag since the update. It's starting to frustrate me because it is halting my climb up the leaderboards!
I actually quit playing because of the lag, but I think it's "video lag", as we call it. Not sure if that's the proper term. It seems to happen really bad when there's too much on the screen, especially after the money ball drops. It happened so regularly that I had to stop playing. I even tried it on my other Xbox - the brand new one, and it still lagged when the money ball dropped and the map got "busy", so I know it wasn't just my console. I played the game like crazy until this started happening. I think once people started to realize that once the money ball drops you want to juice like crazy, send out bots (if you have left over money) and charge the base then the game started to lag like mad and many people are mixing that up with internet lag.
I put a couple hours into the game tonight and didn't experience any of the awful lag I got last night. Better hosts or fewer people playing, who knows.
