Will certain type of units have an explosion that can damage friendly units around it.

Obvious example would be the commander. But other units like an artillery units with a high payload, if you blow it up, does his ammo cause damage around it.

It would be weird not to have it, but too have it can introduce 'micro'. Making sure your highly volatile units aren't surrounded by little bots of your own do avoid friendly splash damage.

or it even opens up a defensive mechanism. Your artillery is being ambushed by smaller bots, running into them and exploding might save the lives of the other units from that ambush.
On the enemy side he'll need to make sure his little bots aren't close to the unit once it explodes.

So, cool mechanic vs minimizing micro. Thoughts?

There were some units in FA that were notably damaging when they died. Experimentals come to mind, especially the monkeylord. I don't know if there are any units in PA where it would apply well besides the commander, but it's certainly a possibility. Maybe the mega bot they were talking about, if that gets included.

Explosions are always cool and work great with wreckage.

    Believe it.
