I've read on one forum about orbital structures. He mentioned a ion cannon. I was wandering, like you've been defeated on a planet and you escaped on your rocket or egg. What if the enemy built a ion cannon and it hit the egg or rocket while it's in space and it's leaving and it fired at the transport and it like disabled the rockets everything to where you can't control it. It would be drifting in space. But what if your transport was drifting passed another planet. And it got caught in it's gravitational pull and now it's falling. Are you guys going to make a crash simulation for space objects like the transport with your commander or a rocket full of your robots. Because I think personally that would be awesome. It's never been done, and I think that would make the game event cooler. Another idea about the crash simulation. would you make different simulations of the objects crashing on different types of planets, and the sun? Post me.
I don't think the developers will make any effort into creating a system of crashing stuff into Planets. I mean that would be rather ridiculous, seeing that it could easily result in the ANNIHILATION of the PLANET...
I'm not sure how realistic the gravity will be, but if it is at least somewhat realistic, you'd actually have to be on a impact trajectory from the beginning to be able to collide with the planet, which would make it happen a lot less. More likely, it would send it on another random orbit or on an escape trajectory.
An impact trajectory includes gravitation towards the celestial body. But yes, depending on where in the gravity well the craft enters and the speed of the craft you might be slingshot out further, or you might crash into the surface, or you might get really lucky and end up in orbit.
Why would that be fun? In addition to being awesome, ideas have to be fun and conducive to gameplay. Personally it just sounds enraging.
I don't think its likely there will be the possibility of anything becoming adrift in space as more than just salvage. Either it wasn't shot enough and it makes it away or it was and it is destroyed. But I see no reason why something wouldn't crash down onto the planet if it was destroyed in orbit, that could be pretty awesome if the gravity simulation was good enough.
Yes, multiple things can happen, but you either hit or escape. Interacting with a third object (like a moon) is the only way you'll achieve a semi-stable orbit.
