I really just think that people hear bad dubstep and assume it's a bad genre. A few simple steps to make sure you're hearing it correctly. 1) Make sure you have subs. Very important. Most dubstep is half or more of just lows, so your stock computer speakers won't cut it. 3) Make sure you actually hear some decent dubstep. I'll be the first to admit that when dubstep is bad, it's HORRENDOUS. If there are certain elements of dubstep you don't like, it's simple to just find an artist that doesn't have that element. Unless of course you don't like wobbly bass, echos, or distortions. In which case, dubstep is not for you. 2) Wait, I forgot 2? Crap. Well uhh...better late than never? For examples of dubstep I like, try Dirty Deeds-Captain Planet VIP People call this "drumstep" Flux Pavillion - Digital Controller I loves me some Flux Pavillion, definitely would recommend checking more of him out. Passion Pit - Sleepyhead (Borgore Remix) I dunno why but this sticks in my head. Borgore does good remixes, but most of his music is just "Oh hey this song is sounding pretty good BRAWAGHRARARHMAGHHSHARRLABALABALOO" which kinda makes sense because he used to be in a metal band. DatsiK - Havoc Even before the drop, I love this. It's why I prefer Havoc to Retreat (Retreat being the "finished" version), because during that part there's vocal samples, and that really ruins it. I didn't post real grimy stuff, I mostly prefer chillstep (take a guess what that is...go ahead)but I could go do that if people wanted. For anyone that has made it this far and doesn't like dubstep, What about it don't you like? Give me an actual something if you're going to reply, don't be like "Well it's bad and I don't like it because of that" or something equally half-hearted or redundant.
I really don't like t he modern movement of Dubstep, I prefer the older styles. Skream - Oskilatah Skream - Midnight Request Line Emalkay - Frequency Chase & Status - Eastern Jam - This is as modern as I go.
You know about Magnetic Man? It's Skream, Benga, and Artwork. No clue who Artwork is, but that's two dubstep og's right there. As an aside, I didn't know the songs until I clicked on the links, darn you pirate radio, not labeling your songs. *shakes fist*
I like a few stuff, usually the heavy and industrial tracks that don't insist too much on the whobbling reece bass sound which makes it sound like 10 years ago's drum and bass slowed down. But it's so hyped that there's tons of stuff produced, ofc most of it not being really interesting. EDIT: forgot to contribute! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnDIzHndGl4 but in fact stuff like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgHIS7Cev7U are still better than all dubstep
All I know of dubstep are tracks of Deadmau5' new album, and one Dutch band which is totally off the hook. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKIwNi56WWE Deadmau5 - One Trick Pony http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xdVw48DdYs Boemklatsch - Devil's Playground Be sure to check that last one out, these guys are amazing. I'll post some more if I get on a PC.
I would actually rather listen to Rap instrumentals. I feel like Dubstep is a cross breed of Rap and House music. Check these instrumentals out Camron & Vado- Hey Muma Kanye West ft. Jay-z - H.A.M. Jamie Foxx ft Rick Ross - Living Better Now Just give em a browse. I kept it instrumental so even if your not a fan of rap you can dig it.
It just doesn't have the musicality of a person playing an instrument. Of course, I'm a classical music snob so you can ignore my opinion.
Wax...it feels so good on my fingers. Emalkay - Frequency TC - Where's My Money (Caspa Remix) Also all EDM is not supposed to be listened to like a normal song. It's meant to be heard during a live set where a Dj mixes the tracks. Yes I know mind = blown. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEuFTBG0Rbg
Dark drum and bass, yeahyuz. And for people that don't like dubstep because it's not musical enough for you, try some breakcore. I actually like some Venetian Snares, but not this in particular for obvious reasons. Make it through the whole song and you get...absolutely nothing.
Hey this vsnares track is quite OK, but sure he did better tracks. Back on the dubstep topic, even if it's often cheesy this guy makes awesome live dusbtep (definitely worth watching the whole show if you got an hour to spend)
+1 for knowing who Beardyman is, he's my favorite beatboxer -2 for calling him cheesy So...you owe me 1. Of something. Better make it good.
