That's really weird, I thought wings on birds evolved from the front limbs.. that looks like it evolved from the ribcage.
Yeah but wings evolving from front limbs is a common argument used in proving that dragons don't exist, because stereotypical fantasy dragons have four limbs and two wings. Guess they are real after all.
Meanwhile, back on topic... I think the most interesting thing on this mission is not so much the part in space, but the first stage of the launch vehicle. The first stage has extra fuel, and has been fitted with landing legs. In this launch, space x is aiming to soft land the first stage in the ocean. Obviously this doesn't help directly, but the long term goal is to land the stages on land, and then re-use them. If the landing was fully successful, then that could have fairly substantial implications for the economics of spaceflight in general. Space X haven't done a full press release yet, but so far the prospects look good. http://nextbigfuture.com/2014/04/spacex-water-landing-looks-good-first.html The rocket re-started on descent, and continued transmitting for 8 seconds after hitting the water, suggesting that it didn't crash spectacularly. I look forwards to finding out the ins and outs.
