Is it just me, or do dox not seem to react to area patrol commands, whether small or planet sized?

I searched around and nobody seems to be bringing this up so I assume it's something on my end. Maybe I'm not the only one though? If not, dox and other land units should be able to area patrol, whether for early scouting or otherwise.

I agree that area patrol for land seems totally inconsistent with area patrol for air. They should behave similarly, but don't, at least currently.

It's step by step, the path finding is obviously easier for air, this is why the AI only had air at first. land comes second then comes navy, then orbital.

Worse part about it is the bot fabbers not being able to repair a group of things still.

If I am not mistaken, area patrol would do that but not just-assist-everything since they don't assist at same time but one after another (meaning the first thing'd hafta die before next thing assisted). If you could issue area-assist command, that would work too since theoretically everything would be assisted by whichever one needed it (although conflicts in needing to assist multiple would be hard, but through painstaking programming I am sure the AI can be programmed to consider better priorities first)

Well, that was discussed :p They have to find priorities anyway, for what comes first in area build, what pattern they follow in area build, how they divide up or stay together in area build, what they choose to repair over something else, how multiple of them divide up to do repairs, how to divide up combat fabbers quickly amongst combat units...

Yeah, those things are all inherent issues.

It's a bug that the devs didnt realise had been introduced since some other changes. Garat mentioned it, I think in one of the livestream threads. Expect it to be fixed for next build, I would imagine.
