I just don't get how people can think this is superior to LoL or HoN. There's so much functionality missing, nevermind the quite honestly overly old school gameplay, that it's a far superior gameplay experience. Examples:- 1. Still last hitting. Good job on putting in something that screws over your team in a team based game, guys. 2. No surrender function despite the game being determined in the first ten minutes. 3. ******* feeders galore. 4. How much money did they spend to make the game basically Warcraft 3's DotA in a new engine? Come on, guys, don't be afraid to update gameplay. 5. So many bugs or stuff that contradicts info that's been given. If you leave a match AFTER someone else leaves, it counts as an abandon and you get put into the leaver pool. If you lose after someone leaves, it counts as a loss instead of anything else etc. Yes, this game will probably have a reasonable sizeable following (Valve + anything, nevermind a well known franchise like DotA, is sure to kick off), but I just don't see how people can prefer this to stuff like LoL or HoN. I know people say stuff like "******* GAMES FOR KIDS MAN", but that's called accessibility, not being easy to play. DotA 2 has literally 0 accessibility. The gameplay is like playing with mittens on, elements like couriers and teleport scrolls are completely unnecessary etc etc. I was looking forward to Dota 2. The art style is downright gorgeous and it shows that a lot of effort has been put into it. On everything else, though? Not so much. I don't know what I was really expecting... Something more than a carbon copy of the original Warcraft 3 DotA, I guess. A chance to break the limitations of that game's engine and make it a completely improved experience. As it stands, there's not really any reason to play this over the Warcraft 3 DotA, and that's just silly.
I'm expecting that a better MOBA than either HoN or LoL(never played HoN, didn't enjoy LoL) to come out of Dota 2 via mods. The groundwork just needs to be done first.
I've never played DotA but given how much VALVe butchers sequels (TF2 compared to TFC) it wouldn't surprise me if this game was super casual friendly and 80000 hats.
