I've been noticing this phenomenon more and more frequently (meaning, more that I play gunner and deploy on unsuspecting opponents)

Unless its level 3, bullet damage at range does little as if undeployed.
Upgrade to level 3, I'm doing monstrous damage to pros at the same distances.

I want to say this is all in my imagination, but I can't shake the feeling level 3 deploy reduces the bullet damage dropoff. I haven't seen this discussed anywhere, so am I imagining this?

ANY accuracy should reduce bullet damage drop-off over distance.

    Same with CoD.

    Also with Street Fighter.

I just know y'all like the comparing things, right?

I'm not asking if it "should," I'm asking if it *does.*

It doesn't work that way in CoD. It doesn't reduce damage dropoff, it just lets you hit more shots.

No, any attachments that increase the weapons "range" stat, decreases its range damage-drop.

Scope = Damage on a target shot from farther away is reduced less from the base damage

Any attachments that DECREASE the weapons "range" stat, increases its range damage-drop.

Silencer = Damage on a target shot from farther away is reduced MORE from the base damage

Anything else i can help you with? No? Good, good. /Thread

by Bro's logic, simply deploying helps with the 'range.' You will notice your accuracy aim is smaller when deployed.

    Also deployed = double RoF.

ITT: Bad call of duty players discuss COD

No attachment ever on COD has made the damage drop off at a farther distance
However Silencers on some guns make the damage drop off at a shorter distance. For some other guns it justs nerfs the damage done in general(LMGS and Snipers).

    *Ahem.*

I am WELL aware of the functions of attachments on weapons in CoD. This thread isn't ABOUT CoD. Its about MNC, the gunner, and his Skill Deploy. The attempts to derail an honest inquiry with inane bullcrap noted, I take offense at bad kid "Sephisticated" judging people's skill online with no real way of telling how good or not someone is. Lrn2forum.

So I'll ask again: Does Level 3 deploy affect bullet damage drop-off for the minigun?

    ACC/Crt/Face sheild -gunner deploy
Ammo/Health regens/extended jet flame- tank deploy
(jet pack burn from behind abilities and no grapple)

Both seam to add health/damage reduction.. tank is really noticable
Both can survive head crabs/air strikes while deployed/juiced with gold armor or passive 3 (tank)

If the tank has health reduction on his build along with deploy 2 he can with stand alot of punishment.

I am aware of the listed effects of deploy at level 3 for both tank and gunner. I'm talking about hidden effects, like a glitch or value in their 'live update' that is causing bullet dropoff damage to default or something when deploy is at level 3.

Remember when level 3 deploy took away the extra crits level 2 gave you? Level 3 deploy got changed, and I want to know if someone else noticed what I noticed as well, that level 3 seems to really buff your damage somehow. I'm thinking the drop off.

    omg...

*asks devs to comment in a pm*

im basically agreeing with you, i explained why. i dont know why you cant take the fact that you noticed something thats true as a win. your right, damage drops more over the same range when your not deployed, but when you deploy, your reticle turns smaller, your accuracy is larger, and the bullet's damage drop off is reduced.

accuracy decreases damage drop at a range, going from no accuracy endorsement to gold lets you do 40% more damage at medium range because your bullets damage like the target is at a closer range. deploying is like getting an accuracy endorsement, your bullets damage someone at long range like they are at medium range.

if they say the same damn thing i just said, then this bad kid at CoD is going to be angryz.

and everyone used a acog scope with the m40 for a reason. wasnt to look cool

i played hardcore, and i used acog on an uzi for a reason. headshots became OHKO at a fair distance, when they werent at anything but barrel-cram before.

I think it would seem that way, but it's because of other reasons. More accuracy, larger RoF, more crits when deployed are all contributing factors, but I don't think it actually increases the damage dropoff.

Admitting this is not the thing to do if you want people to believe you know anything about CoD.

    Sorry Cheesecake.

    Bro is close.

When you deploy 2 things happen.

    1. Your accuracy increases. This means the spread of your weapon gets smaller, which in turn makes it so more of your shots are likely to hit the target. This is seen through the reduction in the size of the reticule.
Accuracy has nothing to do with damage fall off.

    2. You damage fall of of the minigun changes. Damage falloff happens with all trace fire, 'bullet' type weapons. (Miniguns, Assault Rifle, SMG) There is a distance in which your bullets will do full damage, then it drops off linearly until the max falloff distance in which is does a minimum damage. When you deploy, this curve is also changed for the gunner, basically pushing out that curve to make it do full damage at a longer distance.

    Hope that helps.

Yes, that was perfect. So its both intended, and how it works.
Ouch, my pride. It happens I suppose. Its the flaw of being a troll, because nobody is right 100% of the time.

Well I am still sure that damage drop-off affects CoD the same as I described. I could also be wrong, but silencers definitely make a UMP45 take 3 shots instead of 2 in non-hardcore at almost any range, and an ACOG definitely makes a M40 bullet OHKO for a bodyshot taken at any range in non-hardcore (instead of only anything medium and closer).

The m40 acog was glitched on cod 4. With stopping power and the acog, it was the only sniper rifle whose OHK hitboxes INCREASED. All sniper rifles did the same damage, they just had different damage multipliers in different hitboxes. All cod sniper rifles did the same damage at all ranges except the m40 with the acog, which did more than every other sniper rifle. The acog did not increase the hit box multipliers or base damage for any other sniper rifle, including the r700 which is the same gun as the m40 minus the smaller clip size and more idle sway.

Waited until a mod answered the topic before addressing the off topic but marginally relevant point.

I stopped playing CoD4 when people ran that, Stopping Power, Bandolier, and Steady Aim. It's a sniper rifle ffs, not a shotgun.

Only thing that really annoys me in MNC are afk hosts since the game doesn't boot afk hosts.

thanks and noted. lol, i seen people use the r700 with acog as well. i found it simply easier to use, after using acog with pretty much every golden gun by the end of my time playing it.

agreed that setup is annoying. i dont normally run m40 at all, let alone like that. i run dagunov like that, and i run a tactical r700 setup. i ran a r700 like my dagunov but red tiger instead of gold camo, to embarass people since a 4 round clip shouldnt win a no-scope competition (with the scope camo-ed as well, red tiger was awesome looking)

i however also liked the r700 with woodland more of the time on s&d, normal scope. first, the camo covers the normal scope, not the acog, and that would make you invisible when you crawl with your sidearm or walk with your primary. second, the scope sway was wider, and on the only maps id snipe on it was tactical to have a wider view of the map versus a narrower view.

thanks for discussing? lol anyhow, glad that was answered, because i KNEW the damage drop-off WAS better when deployed, and figured it should since deploy is horrible.

who here is in favor of nerfing gunner deploy? lmao. its already nearly useless as is, its one M&M away from being useless across all the boards.
