This isn't a thread for discussions around gameplay, which unit is OP, etc. That topic is here -> https://forums.uberent.com/threads/do-si-do-tournament-gameplay-lessons.61449/ So this TheWrongCat's first tourney and he's looking for any feedback people have on how both the qualifier and Grand Dance were organised and run. What did you think of the format? How were things behind the scenes? Was communication clear? What should be done differently next time? Whether you were player or viewer, he wants to hear from you. Frankness is welcomed, but keep it civil.
Thanks for letting my exodusbots learn some new tricks It even tricked the RNG for the PA viewer key that was given out on stream to be in his favour
The format was really nice, and we sure can do more like these. What I really need to stress is that it is crucial that the maps are properly tested. The maps of round 3 and 4 were utterly imbalanced, and there needs to be a way to counter that. I think it would be a good idea to talk uber into displaying the spawn points in the system editor because you usually dont have an army of trained apes to spawn on every spot and ping the map for you ^^ Other than that, we might be a bit more strict with the meeting times and replacement candidates if one player doesnt show up. If we wait too long it just delays everything and this is not the best impression to show to the newcomers that watch the stream(s). But don't get me wrong, I have a overall positive feeling about the tourney, it's just that I think these things can be improved most easily greetings, Pt4h <3
Yeah really sorry about arriving late. Worked too many hours this week so took a nap and overslept. Fair spawns is a key concern for the tournament side of Pa. Map 1,3,4 and 5 are badly balanced imo. Map 1 is ok as long as you don't get the bad spawns which 1 of the 3 selections has. Well organized considering the game did not want to cooperate. Chris a gentleman as always. Sorry for throwing my toys out of the pram. Also learned that poseidan has an amazing skill of making literate sentences while using a profanity for every other word. Nc-17 stuff that .
This was a nice tourney Can't say much about the qualifier last week (since I missed and couldn't view them). Like someone on the chat mentioned, it's always nice to have some people from Uber. As Pt4h said, the intro was a little bit long, and I could feel, seeing WrongCat's message on the thread telling players to get on TS asap, that it was to try to buy some time. But since participating, and even more organizing a tourney, already requires a significant amount of times, I'm not sure what could be done (especially since this one was with a fixed number of participants, remove one and everything is messed up) The lobby issue (god, I can't recall how much time was wasted setting up that game, maybe up to 30 minutes ) definitely needs a fix. Let's avoid 10 players game with multiple spectators / casters for future tourneys Thanks to everyone involved in the organization (and kudos for the lottery ), and to all players for the entertainment.
I found that despite the technical issues, the casters did much to respond to the viewers concerns during the match. Little things like adjusting the team colors and fixing mic levels go a long way toward making the match fun to watch. The key giveaways were fun too. Also the interviews following the match were much better when we could see who was talking in the teamspeak client. Thanks to Posidian for sharing his play as well. I got to see another perspective of the tourney from the players point of view.
I didn't make it to today's event, but I do have feedback about the qualifier. I didn't like playing the same planet over and over.
Found out that invisible players might be because there is only 11 colors in the game and person 12 joining, ie, a 10 person FFA with 2 specs. cannot have a color therefor is invisible.
Makes sense. Maybe instead of fixed colours, have a system whereby players pick any colour, but the choice is limited depending on what previous players have picked to avoid clashes. There has to be a way to systematically limit a 24 bit RGB colour space to minimise clashes, or just give players a colour wheel and say "go nuts".
Add the secondary colour as a stripe on the badge, thus dramatically increasing the number of players who can partake and be identifiable.
Are u guys really talking about colors and spawns and wondering how this tournament went wrong. Had nothing to do with colors nor spawns, if it did ,that would mean you guys acually had a plan, a decent plan. Therefore, that plan failed. It was a big big mess, IMO. Much <3 s I had a blast watching That 4v4 was epic
