Do people hack to get to be number on the leaderboards?

    I saw a few days ago someone who came out of nowhere and was at the top of the leaders boards by a lot. A few days later, he's gone. I've seen this one other time as well, back when dbowill was number 1. Are these people hacking the game or what???

    Occasionally someone will hack their leaderboard score. I think they clean up the leaderboards every couple of weeks or so, so it's not really a big deal.

    Oh so people can actually hack the leaderboards. What happens to them? Do they get banned?

    I would assume so. Although anyone hacking the leaderboards probably expects to get banned. I know in MW2 if you looked at the profiles of people at the top of the leaderboards they were all just advertisements for people that would get you 10th prestige if you paid them.

    Gamerscore modding only takes a USB and a program is what I have heard from people.

    And Microsoft does not have the ability to stop it.

    They don't prevent it, but they do change your gamertag to 'cheatermcheater' on your first offense and wipe every gamescore you ever had. On the second offense you lose the account.

    No, people go into private matches and leave their Xbox on 24/7 to get to the top of the leaderboards ;)

    People who are hacking the leaderboards and selling prestige can get banned as many times as they want; they likely have JTagged consoles and can proceed to unban themselves and make as many new accounts as they want, and many of them will advertise what account number they're on in their profile like a badge of honor.
