    Hi everyone!

I'm a huge fan of this game, and one of my favorite game modes is Free For All. I enjoy having 5+ players becasue it adds another layer of complexity in terms of not starting wars with your neighbors. One of the very large flaws I currently feel the game has is that 2 bases near eachother will always be hitting eachother due to the need to build defenses which often have longer and longer range as the game progresses.

Therefor, I would like to introduce the idea of diplomacy. Where Commanders can make other civilizations set to not attack.

Thanks for considering my suggestion. :)

Intriguing. At first I would say yes. And I voted yes, indeed.

On second thought, how should it work? Let say that I propose you an alliance, and our armies do not open fire against each other. I have then many ways to exploit the situation at my advantage.

For instance positioning my units close to your most valuable assets, like Power Gens, and T2 Factories, and when I'm ready breaking the alliance.

At that point you're very much screwed yourself.

So if Diplomacy has to be implemented, it has to be wisely weighted.

I think we don't really need a diplomacy feature, because we are honest and can talk with each other ;). So you can make alliances with talking.
And alliances will be a playmode in the future.

    Here is the conversation:
Black Team: "Uh, sir, I thought we were in alliance? Why did you build a Holkins?"
Purple Team: "I'm just defending my borders."

It would be cool if you could bring up a diplomacy tab, and just click on a team to set them as friendly, as long as they clicked yours too. There would need to be penalties for breaking ties unfairly,or maybe not as that's part of the fun ;)
I wonder whether being able to gift resources or units to a temporarily allied team would work...

I think that a diplomacy feature could be cool to have if it is set up correctly, and if it is implemented it should be an option when you create a lobby. If it wasn't optional, then FFA would be ruined. Some people play FFA because they want to go head-to-head with other players. What if someone makes an alliance in a three player game? The one player gets double teamed and can't do anything in the future to prevent this.

I vaguely remember Uber saying this is a confirmed feature in one of the livestreams.

Only vaguely remember them saying this though.

Probably from when they demoed Alliances

I am too, I can't wait, One thing I'd love is for it to be ranked.

I don't play much of either on FaF because I hate not investing in my ranking. I'd play so much more of them if they were ranked.

What about bilateral chat? (messages between specific teams only, in order to discuss behind a common enemy's back)

I can see several reasons for and against.

you'll surely be able to do that and even message a specific person, and why not even with a camera position attached? ...just like in FA.

Diplomacy. I could have sworn I heard it was in-game at one point but without a UI for it's use. Is it still being worked on?

To specify, I mean joining seperate times under alliance in-game, or unforming alliances and seperating seperate teams into enemy teams.
