I tried it on PS4 and I loved it

It's easily the best shooter I've played since MNC

I have. On Xbox. It is OK. There are some SERIOUS balance issues, but aside from that it is fun. My biggest issue with it is the really short match times. On average you are talking under 10 minutes, with a "good" game lasting around 5.

The plus side of it, it has great frame rates, runs smooth, you get a feel for it very easily, the characters feel unique with their play style, yet they are not so different that you can't pick up a new one rather quickly. It is what game design should be, really. But again...serious issues with balance.

What balance issues? I thought the game was pretty balanced minus some ultimates that seemed too easy to use. I know most people complained about how fast Bastion could melt while deployed, but I find there are a lot of counters to many situations.

Mercy is too mobile, and makes people unkillable. They are nerfing her for a reason, but are making her under powered now (since now she basically can't jump to rez people...she is literally a backpack healer and nothing more - they needed to put an ammo count on her weapon and that was it...)
Bastion is too strong in turret form. Also being nerfed, but still very strong, especially with a Mercy on him he is unkillable. I have seen three or four people try to take him down while he self healed and had a Mercy healing him and he just sponged all the damage.
Stupid dragons...get two of them, point cleared, GG.
Turrets are far too strong, especially in pubs. Sure, you can snipe them...except that it is easy to anti snipe, and there are many points that can not be sniped (like the one train where it can overlook the point and you can't hit it until you are past it and through a ton of cross fire). Also being nerfed.
    Team Tracer. What's up NOW?
Maps are lopsided. Some (like the train I mentioned) have camps and bottlenecks that are hard\impossible to dislodge people from. Others are too long and favor one team over another too much. It is difficult to defend in escort since the opposing team can literally just throw bodies at the problem and win without ever firing a single shot if they can get past the one bottleneck into the map.

But, I didn't play too much so it may have just been the skill factor of the teams I was on. Of course, competitive play will be better.

Is there a list of patch notes or changes from the beta? I haven't been paying attention but I don't think I've heard of these changes either.

You definitely aren't the only one with these complaints. I've heard that bastion is OP quite often and torbjorns turret is too good as well. Specifically the fact that it instantly locks on to a player from a very far distance, compared to MNC where it took a second to acquire it's target.

This game to me just seems like it has endless amounts of counters available but forces you to pick a character or even an entire team composition just to counter the enemy. It's not like other class based shooters where a class has a decent opportunity against it's counters. Personally I don't have any complaints with Mercy. Team Tracer can suck but I've never lost to one and they end up switching off their classes. Same with an 6x comp. Bastion can be a big pain but since he's stationary it can be easy to counter him with specific characters. I can play plenty of classes but I love Pharah a lot. That also might give me a biased opinion on bastion since I can constantly fire some rockets from far away and kill him before he can get out of his deploy.

It'd be really hard for me to come out and say something is very broken or OP right now. I do feel Torbs turret could use a slight nerf in the time it takes to acquire a target. Besides that, most of my problems are from the ultimates. I hate the auto-aim aspect but I guess some classes need to be accessible. McCree's high noon time frame is small, but I'd like to see it even smaller. I'd like Hanzo's ultimate to do less damage if you are purposely shooting it at a wall to defend an area. For example: Defending in a payload, and ulting right in your own spawn towards the payload.

At the end of the day, pub balance does not matter completely, what matters is "is it fun". MNC is not really balanced for pubs at all, but it is fun as heck so it works.

Balance for both works more once you turn competitive and try to make that work. I think Overwatch will have a good PM scene, but I have no idea what that will look like yet.

Bastion isn't the problem. If you get murked by him, it's most likely your fault

Torbjorn's turret IS the problem. The fact that its cooldown starts when you drop a turret and not after it gets destroyed is a joke. It's spammable as **** and it makes maps like Hanamura and Volskaya almost impossible to break, especially in pubs where nobody communicates. Its lock-on time is ridiculous as well

This is why Pharah is my most played character. She counters Bastion and Torbjorn very well

Hopefully this game goes crossplay.. If it does it will be around an extremely long time... I told chaos id hit him up if it ever happened.

As for the game... Feels very much like tf2
Alot of the classes are very much the same though they are more futuristic and have better abilities.
Like the demoman guy... Sorry i just got the game dont know all their names.

    I didn't know you had a PS4, Pyre.

I should probably grab a copy of Overwatch at some point.

Torbjorn is a huge problem, but he is a pub stomper. The current meta for pubs on defense is 2-3 Torbjorn, a Lucio, a Bastion if they have a shield tank (otherwise use McCree for his ult since they will have to rush the turrets and you can counter with that). Last one is a flex pick but Mei is good because she can put up a wall or an ult if they have a good rush. Just keep the turrets far enough apart to keep them from being taken out by a single Hanzo or D.Va ultimate and hit ults when they close to make the turrets 5 times more effective...

And yes, the instant lock on with no miss turret is a flipping joke. It also has more health than most people and has no real hard counter - Pharah if she can stay out of its range, but overlapping turrets prevent that and by the time she kills one the other one is built back up anyway. They either need to give it a target acquisition time, a lower range, damage drop off, or some combination of all of the above. They REALLY need to not allow double classes though.

Customs are a thing and Torbjorn is not a part of it. It seems as though double Winston is...because he has a shield, a self heal, no aim AE damage, mobility, and crowd control; he sucks in pubs though because no one follows initiation.

Patch notes. Apparently I read old patch notes...the versions of Bastion and Torbjorn ARE the nerfed versions...holy wow...
Also, some patches are not live on console yet. I have no idea which ones.

I really hope this game doesn't end up like TF2 in regards to patches. Double Winston is amazing with people who know what to do. The skill gap in this game is amazing. Some classes are easier than others but there is a high level of individual skill present with just about every character. Regardless of how skilled a player is though the team skill gap is soooo big that a team of okay players all on the same page will always beat a team of skilled individual players.

I agree with Torb's turrets, but I'm fine with having multiple classes. If you play solo than you're just kinda fucked but the teams will have to switch their comps to deal with a double torb. It just takes a stupid amount of effort, a wasted ultimate or something to get the push going.

The PC scene is where the organizations are and where the big tournaments will be. However the competitive console scene is actually pretty damn strong. I've seen tons of amazing players and squads so far. Lots and LOTS of top Halo, Shadowrun, Destiny, TF2 etc players so far and the general consensus seems to be that Miracle/Chron/Yan/Wildman/Intervention and someone else are the top squad.

McCree is my most played hero and I'm fvcking glad he's getting a nerf. The fact that he has no counter is retarded. He also outshines Reaper at Reaper's own role. (wrecking tanks) He's an anti-flanker and should NOT be a tankbuster. His stun should only be strong against Tracer and Genji

Btw, this is my best Pharah game I've gotten so far. It's from the Beta

    Intense Pharah Game (43-3)

The problem with patching is the history Blizzard has with it. They do not believe in "small balance adjustments". They let things go as they are for a long time, and then make wholesale changes to classes. They did it with WoW, they did it with Diablo, they did it with Hearthstone, they did it with StarCraft. It is just what they do.

A small adjustment that makes sense is Lucio losing his ability to wall glide unless he has the move speed buff active. It is logical and a small nerf that helps Mercy be more viable because as is he is too mobile and heals too well. Blizzard will instead do something stupid like remove it all together, while letting Mercy heal and attack buff people at once (for only a small penalty like a reduced move speed, which doesn't matter since she can fly to people anyway...)

I expect McCree to be exactly as is for 6 months and then all of a sudden he will change totally too. For example (again, pure theory...) he will lose his stun and instead be a dual wield pistol character who can shoot RT and LT at the same time for a fan\aimed shot combo. That actually isn't bad if you know how to aim, it is just no longer easy mode.

Torbjorn will become a backpack armor healer so will be like Mercy but instead of actually healing you just gives you more armor over and over while his turret becomes a healing turret when upgraded with the power of a Lucio doing unamped healing (i.e., it's crap) and no weapon upgrades. They will also change scrap so that it is required to build the turret, making it even worse. (Again, I am just making stuff up...but this is the kind of stuff Blizzard does...)

On the flip side they will over-buff some people, like Pharah will be able to fly indefinitely if done right and her knock back (which makes NO sense for her kit) will instead be a homing beacon that makes her rockets lock onto targets or something equally as stupid. Then it will be like that for six more months, and then they will change the balance back to make someone else OP.

Because that is what Blizzard does - over buff underperforming characters and over nerf over performing ones, and at the end of the year calling it even. Again...I am making this stuff up. But it is what Blizzard is known for.

Seriously, I played D3 for about a year on PC when it came out. I played a monk. The month 6 patch made monks TOTALLY different and they went from slightly over-performing (with the right build and gear, and even still they were only really good at farming gold on difficulties under "Hell") to being the worst class in the game by far that couldn't do anything right. I played a Priest in WoW for a bit before they ruined Shadow and made blast priests unplayable. I played a hunter and they made unique pets useless. They just can't help themselves. Which is a shame because as far as net code and making games that run smooth they are amazing at it. Probably the best.

    @RandomToon

It's already been confirmed that McRee's Fan the Hammer will be nerfed later this month. Blizzard still wants McRee to be a dominant anti-flanker (wrecks Tracer, Genji and Reaper) but he can't be a tank-buster anymore. That's Reaper's role

D.Va will get a buff too pretty soon
