I happen to play a lot of Smash Bros, and one thing I wish MNC had is DI. In Smash, when you get hit and knocked into the air, you can control your trajectory some. I often wish I could do the same in MNC whenever a Jackbot or Gunner Slam sends me flying.
DI saves lives with lightweight characters and is absolutely necessary to survive in the high 150s percent. Also the cloud on melee, forgot what it was called because I haven't played smash in forever. DI would be pretty cool. Cool, another good smasher. Who do you main in Melee? I used ICs, Falcon, Sheik and Jiggz Brawl sucks so I quit playing it but I was a Bowser/Oli main.
I don't understand why people think Brawl sucks so much. Oh waaah, you can't wavedash and L-cancel. Oh boohoo, so-and-so was nerfed and so-and-so was buffed. I personally like it better FOR those reasons.
Because it feels more like a party game then a fighter. There isn't even hitstun and block stun. L cancelling and Wavedashing was a big part of combos. Characters are lighter feeling and there is a lot less gravity which in turn makes characters like Snake overpowered and makes it really easy to be knocked off at low precentages. It also makes air comboing difficult. There's no denying that melee is a much deeper game then Brawl.
There definitely is DI on this game, however it is not enough to be incredibly significant. The assassin's smoke bomb jump would be nearly impossible to aim if there was no DI.
I think that's kinda what he meant, significant directional influence. It's barely noticeable when you get slammed by a gunner or jackbot.
I have both 64 and Brawl, but my copy of Melee mysteriously disappeared, haha. You just have to work with the new physics, is all. Personally, I love them. Everything feels better to me. I don't think there's lack of gravity, it's just that some characters (lookin' at you, Falco) don't fall as hard as they used to. This CAN be interpreted as lack of gravity but I think it's more like TUNED gravity (meaning it affects everyone more in a believable manner instead of some characters drastically). Anyone who misses (for some ODD reason) the old physics of Melee can simply acquire Brawl+.
God I didn't know there were other veteran smashers here. It's kinda comforting. Anyways ya I have brawl+. That's they only way to make brawl playable.
I wouldn't like to see more DI in MNC. Ringouts are a very effective counter to things in this game (juice, overhealed pros) and it takes some planning to effectively ringout someone. I feel that this would make this game less fun in the end.
I don't like Brawl because there's too much going on in the background. Half of the time I lose sight of my character and end up watching the 'show' going on with the level/background. It's annoying. four player matches? Forget it. I can't keep track at all. If they fused melee levels with brawl style, great. At least the melee levels didn't MFOGJKNMHOHJGUIHGNINHGFINHGFNHGNH change on you every 5 seconds and had at least two things exploding/moving/etc. at all times. It's nice and quiet, maybe it'll change but not every 5 seconds.
Yes normally when I find myself flying out of the arena due to any throw-out Grapple of some sort, my natural reaction is to hit the jetpack button (IF my class has a jetpack) and fly to the arena. Of course, this never usually helps 100% of the time but Directional Influence is certainly there.
I came in really late to this, but snake is in no way overpowered, i actually played brawl competively, and i mained Dedede, pokemon trainer, and metaknight, and i beat some pretty damn good snakes with PT, the lightness was because nintendo wanted a bigger focus on air combat, try playing against a great metaknight or zero suit and you'll see, if you look into everything you can do in brawl, it's way deeper then melee
