And another competitive game roughly based on DotA: Bloodline Champions http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CkS8z2MWT0 Looks like there is a trend developing and you started it. I think it's an interesting idea to get rid of die casting if you are aiming for the ultra competitive crowd. But why, why did they use the WC III graphic again? Did they run out of polygons half way through the production or what? :x
Heard of this a long time ago, and I've applied for a beta key. This is more like a WoW Arena than DotA. It's just you, your opponents, and a bunch of skillshots.
Without creeps is it really a dota-esque game? That's kind of the key element to those types of games. Also... Demigod is the only one I've seen so far that didn't have warcraft-esque stylized graphics.
They have a free multiplayer demo up: http://www.impulsedriven.com/dem It's a great game but it fell short of its potential due to problems with the p2p netcode at launch. Probably not but if you look at the graphics and gameplay it still screams DotA imo. I wouldn't know how to describe it without referring to DotA atm.
Oh, I was referring to BLC, not Demigod. If you've ever played Guild Wars PvP, think of it as that except more action based.
I try to stay away from MMO stuff because it would eat up all my time. Somebody offered me a beta key yesterday but I had to turn him down. I still haven't repaired my gaming PC because I'm too lazy. Ah well, maybe shortly before Starcraft II is released. BLC looks okay but I think they should start to get rid of the WC III graphics. Same for LoL and HoN. It's beyond me why they didn't try to go for a different art style.
The game play looks more like NOX than DotA, as Scathis said, a big part of DotA is the creeps (as well as towers). This looks more like a flat out PvP (and looks interesting as well). If anyone plans on trying it let me know, I'll give it a run with you.
