Default vs Tactical Discussion Thread

I'd really like to know why players using the tactical control scheme consider it superior to default and vice versa.

I've been trying tactical all day and so far I don't know what I think of it.

so far I like it with the assault class but my assassin class is so fucked up, I either go invis/switch weapons when I didn't want to, smoke or melee, dash or sprint, etc.

I don't know, maybe certain classes benefit from it better?

It makes it easier to aim your skills since you don't have to take your thumbs off the sticks. When I play as a sniper I use flak and sniper grapple a lot, and grapple especially is easier if I can move to track the target. I still use standard most of the time though, since the hud colors/symbols for the skills don't change when you switch layouts, and it's just easier for me to remember that if the blue skill is full I press the blue button. It's also a pain when you're chasing somebody around as a gunner/tank and accidentally deploy yourself when the rest of their team shows up and you're trying to retreat.

I have yet to decide which is better as the Assassin.

On one hand, I feel that I can react quicker when I need to cloak or smoke bomb.. It feels more natural to hit RB + A instead of B + A for a smoke bomb jump.

On the other hand, it makes it far more difficult to aim when I'm lunging. Taking my finger off the right stick to hit X, as quick as that movement is, usually takes me off target.

Maybe tomorrow I'll try playing on Default for a while and see if I like it more. I've been using Tactical since the trial, just because I feel like on every class besides the Assassin it works better.

while I agree with RB+A, A+B is also fine if you have a big enough thumb lol

My average sized hands fail me on a regular basis, I suppose.

Plus years of competitive COD and only minutes of Halo have me trained to switch weapons with Y and reload with X... :?

I still don't know if it's worth changing it just to fix the lunging issue... Or, better yet, I don't know if changing it would fix the lunging issue..

It's weird, I play on Tactical with every class EXCEPT assassin. I just can't get into that routine for her D:

The assault class though is amazing with tactical, I just love being able to constantly keep moving while jetpacking, plant mines while flying sideways, etc.
