How is this a new feature Uber? I was seriously wondering where these features went.

Are you going to reintegrate it without the bugs?

We added the ability to run a dedicated server without Steam but you can still run the game with Steam as well.

I'm not able to join servers or invite people to servers anymore through Steam. I really like those features.

It was buggy though, every time I did you had to type in a fake password (my friends and I just used 1) in order to join.

We haven't spent any time with the Steam invites or joining a friend's game but we will fix that up properly.

I wasn't able to invite people to a server I was on yesterday and they were not able to join me, then I saw that under the patch notes which is why I was asking.

Yeah, the fact that was working at all was a fluke. It's on our list of stuff.

Erm, I joined servers where friends of mine were playing the whole time and the other way around too. The only thing that didn't work was the dummy password pop-up. I haven't send out any invites though.

I have a question and I guess it can fit in here. Can you run MNC (just the game) without running Steam?

Nope. If you start MNC Steam will launch, try to connect you to the Steam servers and then launch MNC. If you don't have an open internet connection (but your game was verified already) Steam will offer you to play offline.

So you can play without internet connection but not without running Steam. (Unless you are only hosting a dedicated server - I think.)

Dang, that stinks. My PC just barely runs MNC and I figured less things running on my PC would help the game run a little better. Thanks for the info anyways.

    [Edit]
That reminds me what is that setting on the bottom of the Audio & Video tab do/mean? VAC or something?

    Poly,

I just tried invites and joining a friend's game and they still work with a blank password.

Not exactly sure what you mean but it's probably the Steam client. Steam is not very large and should not interfere with the performance of your PC much during gaming.

There are probably a few things you can shut down to increase the performance. What exactly pretty much depends on what is loaded in the background. You can right-click on your taskbar and open the Task Manager to see what is consuming how much memory.

Browsers eat up a good amount of memory usually. So it might help a little if you close them before you launch MNC. I would need more information on your system to be more specific though.

I thought it didn't work unless you typed something in. I just always used 1.

VAC is Valve Anti-Cheat, you pretty much want it on at all times.

    Here are my system specs:
    Intel (R) Atom (TM)
    CPU 230 @1.60GHz
    1.60GHz, 896 MB of RAM

When I played MNC last night I made sure I had no applications running, at least none showing on the applications tabs. When I play the sounds are smooth but what I see happen on screen is slightly delayed then what my mouse and keyboard did. I am able to play League of Legends no problem but that game has a lower min. requirements. I am thinking that the fact that I don't have at least 1gb of RAM is what is causing it to run poorly. Mind you I am a complete noob when it comes to PC gaming and computers in general.

Thanks st0nedpenguin for letting me know what that was for.

Yup, RAM is a little low, that's true. Graphic card might be another bottleneck. I'm not too familiar with notebooks for gaming unfortunately. I always had desktops and at work we can't exactly install Steam on the notebooks. Well, we could but...

If I remember right my old Pentium 4 2.6Ghz, 1gig ram and a radeon 9600se had big troubles running UT3 well when it first came out, since this game uses the UT3 engine I can see why you may be having troubles. I know all games run differently, MNC can get a bit hectic when the action starts pouring in.
