Just read the plan for when alpha and beta then retail release is due. I am really stoked that the game is progressing so well and quickly, but I have concern that such a tight schedule is going to be rushed. This is why I'm saying it here. I don't want this to sound like criticism, and I don't want any negative rumours to spread about this game. I don't doubt you think it's a realistic goal to have such an early release date but please don't feel that this date is set in stone. I will not be disappointed if I have to wait until 2014 until I get to play this game. I didn't pay more for beta access. I don't think I'd be that useful as a beta player, and I'd rather have the finished product and get to experience it all as a new thing. I'm eager, I check here about once a fortnight, and frankly I'm surprised at such a quick timetable! Hey, this might be premature, but any plans for a core contingency type expansion for 2015, so we can have things like black hole generators, flare emitters (giant laser beam that turns a star into an astronomical flamethrower) and even a thingy that collapses an entire galaxy, like the contingency device? Man that was a cool story. Forever set in my mind by your fantastic narrator. Anyway, I know this is kind off rambly, but these forums are for feedback and I'm quite happy to wait a while for this game. Just don't do a duke nukem: waiting for forever on us
As much as it would be beautiful for it to take as long as it takes™, deadlines need to be met before money for development runs out.
Unfortunately UberEnt isn't Blizzard (or fortunately depending on your opinion of ActiBlizz). UberEnt don't have the luxury of nigh-infinite time to develop their products before release. What they DO have is a lot of time after release to add and fine tune their product. Games are Platforms these days, not one-shot fire-and-forget sales. This is a good thing.
Not necessarily true of all games... actually only a few. It takes a well planned design and implementation to be able to really carry forward a game. There are good examples of this, and even more horrible counter-examples. Besides, the EA, tweak and resell for $60 every year is too tempting a model for a lot of unscrupulous hacks out there too.
