I want to apologies to everyone that was on the Dallas server tonight , all 72 of you plus everyone on teamspeak3. I am having problems with the Dallas box running under a load. I thought the server provider had it fixed yesterday after spending 12 hours working on it but seems the problem is still there. I hope to have the box back up shortly but most likely it will not be back up for another 12 hours while they fix it again . The Chicago server is running strong and I added a extra server to help out . Again I am sorry about the servers being down .
you are having this issue of random timeouts that everything in the servers get booted while your server reports a 30 seconds timeout on each of the players? currently experiencing that one. I don't really understand what other load problems you might have. my VPS (2 cores + 1 GB memory) is running 5 instances (100% cpu usage and 96% memory used) has been running smoothly besides the occasional timeout issue.
No I am just having problems with the box itself . The memory seemed to be bad so it was replaced and now after 24 hours of full servers the box's power supply seems to takes a dump. Theey looked at it last night but did not do anything , if it locks up again I am going to ask for a replacement box dont know how you are running that many on a vps with 1 gig of memory. I am running six servers per box and the cpu usage is 70% and using 2 gig of memory and about 45 gig per day bandwidth. Sounds like you might be using a lot of paged memory and with the servers using 100% cpu there might not be enough over head to handle spikes.
turns out the vps was just handling it fine, returning to my orginal configuration of 4 instances, i witnessed the same timeout issue occuring. each instance uses around 23% cpu, so after 4 you would think i would have reached the limit, but with a fifth in place there seems to be no issues at all. seems like each instance uses more cycles it actually needs. there is no drop in performance. The servers handle really well with paged memory, but that might have something to do the blazing fast storage server my vps is connected to. \i did bring down the 5th instance got an email from my host asking if i could optimize the vps a bit since they were registering 100% cpu usage for over two days  going to run a test with limiting cpu cycles, might be able to run the 5th instance without the cpu reaching 100%
Thats the biggest problem with a vps , the provider monitors cpu usage . Is there a reason you could ot go to a ture dedicated box ..
all about the money  currently i' m not eager to spend much money on it when i get nothing in return. that may change when i have my website finished that will need hosting and lots of harddrive space. or you just know some EU dedicated server providers that are relatively cheap. i could look into that.
I understand that , for me its a hobby I enjoy doing . I put the donation thing on my page just in case but most people just use the servers. Its ok If I did not have the extra money I would not be doing it.
