Now I personally think this idea is really awesome and imo it would make up for the lack of factions in the game. What I'm thinking about is each player can choose (aside from profile picture and name) a small lore text to accompany him. The visualization could be done several ways: If the game is loading, then there is a small text box under the name displaying the lore. Fighting against an enemy called "Gree" is a different feeling than fighting against a player who has a small text saying:"This commander has expanded his territory far across the galaxy and come across numerous alien species, adopting new tactics and strategies from their warlords". Imo this would just give you an impression of the persons character and it would make the players army feel more unique and less generic. Together with unit coloring or similar things, you would have armys that look different and feel different to the person playing them, without having factions. Another situation where this would be really awesome would be say a clan called "Brohk". Instead of this just being a name and people recognising them by that name, they could all have the same lore text, which furthermore indicates them being connected in some way. The clan could be known by what is described in the lore text: instead of just the name, they would for example have the reputation of murdring killing machines, because that is indicated in ther lore text. Post will be changed, I am currently not in a position to spend a lot of time on it and will add pictures and more explanation later. I've always liked ideas like this, and I think it's a fantastic way to make every player and game unique. The only thing that stops me from endorsing something like this are Trolls. Nothing kills the mood like having 1 player decide to take the team colour brown and say his units are from planet poop and his army is here to **** all over your units in the name of the unicorn gods...
