Hello all, First up this is gonna be an awesome game. Thank you Uber! As I am TA player from the Cavedog days. Also I'm one of the silent supporter. I am one of the 1k backers for the Custom Commanders and with the current commander design I am finding it hard now to come up with my own design. Hence this post or idea I am about to say... How about a Custom Commander Builder? Where we have a skeleton of a commander and then we have pieces of armour to choose from to put together our own commander? And us 1k backers have design input on armour style to put in? e.g. Style of legs, Body Armour, Left and Right Arms and the Head. So we can mismatch all the piece to make our own style of commander? I am not fussed if this idea get ahead or not but when the time come for us to input our idea for our custom commander I am just gonna have trouble in doing so! Cheers Zenotheory
The idea is that you provide the Inspiration, and they create it for you. If you want to just straight up use bits and pieces from existing commander models I feel like Uber will be glad to oblige because it'll be a heck of a lot easier than making one from scratch. Mike
Yeah, this would be pretty neat to have. Uber could do several different rigs, I think they said they had 4 for Commanders in the May 17 live stream, and then provide several different "palettes" for the pieces. For paying a thousand dollars though, don't you want something a bit more personalized? I'm sure someone is going to create something similar to this as a mod.
If this mod come out that would be awesome... I spent a lot time yesterday looking at image on the net from anime, warhammer 40k, and sci-fi mecha for my commander idea
I'd be extremely surprised if this didn't get modded. I'd make the most of having a nice personalised commander. You could ask for one based off TA if you want a bit of nostalgia :]

You misunderstood I think. They have 4 skeletons currently which are the invisible bone structures used to map animations & effects. The custom commanders will be unique (rather than just say a delta with a different color/camo pattern) but will still conform to the requirements need for these skeletons. Generates less animation overhead when they can map the visual model to an existing framework At least thats my current understanding from the plethora of topics in Knights "What we know about commanders" thread and the other threads that poped up about them so far. i think that for now the only customisation we can look forward to is a choice of pre-built commanders & their cannon type as well as a secondary ability. This would be great for maybe something to come in the extended support or a mod. would be really awesome to choose leg type, head, torso, arms, etc. it would make your commander so much more personalised.
