Tomorrow I interview for an American quiz show. It is the pilot episode so I cant research their style or what kinds of questions they ask, but my agent said they will ask about current events in America. It is being made by the founder of CollegeHumor and I have to reply in a funny way (I should be fine there). Problem is I havent lived in America for over 7 years. I have a limited time to do research (one night). What topics do you think they will touch? What are some good examples of current events in America? I need all the feedback I can get. Thank you everyone who helps out. L. Spiro
Cool, what TV Show, If you watch PhillyD just watch the past 2 weeks worth of vids (around a hour or so) and he covers alot of the major events, does a little celebrity news, barely though so if that's the type your better off not watching.
The show is You vs. America. Funny thing is they were talking about it in 2009 (http://gawker.com/5407591/is-ricky-...uch-time-with-ben-silverman?tag=ben silverman) but my agent said this was the pilot. Guess they are just finally getting around to it. I couldnt find any videos of it. I will look for PhillyD on YouTube. Thank you for the suggestion. L. Spiro
http://www.youtube.com/user/sxephil Here's his channal, he has alot so you might have gotten confused. not to sure how to do that cool thing where you replace the link with words though yet haha
Are you sure you aren't supposed to answer ignorantly? I remember seeing something where the American host asked a British kid questions and he answered all of them way wrong, in a funny way.

Thank you all. I got crap sleep, not because I am nervous but because I kept it in the back of my mind not to sleep too long, and my mental timer kept awakening me on the hour every hour. So annoying they always have to do this early in the morning. If they did this around noon I could have gotten some sleep. Anyway I studied up with a full night of Philly D. and I am ready to go. I didnt know so much was happening in America! L. Spiro
They said my interview was one of the better ones. Thanks for all of the support. On the way there I saw this and I just couldnt resist getting a picture to post here. Okay so it is not exactly HOTSHOTS and ICEMEN but close enough to remind me. L. Spiro
Someone from out of country to answer questions about American events? Sounds like you're going to be made a jackass of.
I feel a bit sabotaged. The most crucial part of the interview was my fake reaction to having won $1,000,000. I wanted to jump up and scream, which is what they want to see for their TV show too, however my agent had just received a call and was still in the room. ***hole. So I gave a quieter (though pretty authentic) in-shock reaction. Unfortunately, it is just not good for TV and I got pitted with the audience. Or maybe I just dont look American? Details I shouldnt divulge: #1: They are filming in Japan because it makes it easier to broadcast in Japan rather than making 2 edits. Filming will be live in Japan, then edited and broadcast later in America. #2: Which means if you watch the pilot episode you are going to hear a bunch of Americans talking about their backgrounds and where they live. It is all bull****. They all live in Japan but the producers want the American audience to think it is being filmed in America, so everyone (including myself) had to come up with fake stories about their lives in America. I said I lived in Washington and worked at a game company called Uber Entertainment, and had 2 dogs and a beautiful young daughter. #3: Because it is the pilot episode, the winner is known in advance. It is all fake. But episodes after the pilot will be real (and filmed in America as far as I know). This is why they enlisted the help of my acting agencyto get actual actors and actresses who can fake the show properly. Anyway I get acting jobs several times per month so this is no big loss, except that it would be the only one broadcast outside of Japan. I am a bit surprised at the result, though, because among the interviewees, I was the youngest (and I am 29!), cleanest, and slimmest (except for a disgruntled old man who was nothing but bones, wrinkled skin, and a sailor cap) there. Everyone else was fat, old, and had skin conditions or crossed eyes. Oh well! On to the next Japanese-TV-only job! L. Spiro
No idea. It was a test to see how well we ad-lib, so I just had to say something quickly, and that is what came to my mind. At least they said very clearly that I passed that part. L. Spiro
Just got back from Fuji TV. Ted Allen was the host. It was pretty funny how many things had to be faked. It was my first time in this type of acting job and it was interesting to see what happens behind-the-scenes in a gameshow. L. Spiro
