I haven't even played a match yet. I'm scared. Because when I start up the game, the main screen menus lag about a second behind my clicks. Click on "settings"? Wait one second before the game acknowledges my clicks. I turned down every setting I could find, which I shouldn't need to, so I have to conclude that it is something strange with my system or maybe it's a known issue with an easy fix. Anyone else experienced this before?
Please upload your DxDiag.txt But in general main menu can be laggy on some systems because of background animation. It's doesn't mean that game will be laggy.
The moving starfield in the background causes it. Personally I just comment out the script file each patch, but maybe there's a more permanent way to do it with a mod.
List of known reasons: 1) Animated star background in main menus sometimes does it. There is a way to lookup the file responsible for that background, and simply remove that bit of code. The background will have god knows what, probably blackscreen or whitescreen, but the point is, it won't have the animated one and that should be a fix. An even more technically savvy idea is to inset a static image instead. 2) I have found my unique problem with startup-menu lag, is because when I bring up my "task manager" and go to processes running, I find my internet "adblocker.exe" is running, plausibly because the "Interface" in all of PA is ran by "Coherent", which literally loads HTML and JAVA to make a fully webcode-ran and fully customizable using webcoding type of interface. If some process not related to the game is in your process menu, and you see it is running at 300k, then WARNING THERE IS RISK INVOLVED but you can try to end it. RISK INCLUDES if the computer needs it to run it can cause it to blue-screen and possibly permanent computer damage. Use at own risk and with own responsibility for looking up what the process does ahead of time. I only suggest that because mine was obvious, it is "AdBlocker.exe", it only runs with Internet Explorer, it doesn't run when computer is idle, and for some reason the game always launches adblocker process too. 3) Driver updates, graphics driver and audio driver, actually try what the game is running at, post a dxdiag.txt and have sxx troubleshoot it for you, ect ect. That kind of thing is in every post on this forum for player issue troubleshooting.
