    Hey there,
I think I submitted this in the bug tracker awhile back and was asked to refer to forums. The issue hasn't come up in awhile but here it has returned. (mostly due to epicness of round I beleive.

Around the end of a rather large round I got plenty of lag as expected, generally I am ok with this as long as time is proportionate, I keep calm during this and understand the lack of optimization.
There seems to be a breaking point where I lose sound, not just the game but the entire sound engine of my pc dies. Not only do I lose sound but I lose control of my keyboard, the lights on its keys turn off, the LCD backlighting goes out (clock still visible in lcd, just no backlight) and all my capslock or numpad lights shut out. Attempting to shut down the computer will result in windows claiming that Explorer is not responding, when it begins to respond again the shutdown process does the final (and hilarious) "waiting for program: play shutoff sound"
So the sound of windows closing freezes the shutdown process further. Upon closing program to continue it will sit in the "..shutting down" screen indefinately.
A cold boot is required for the pc to be shut off at this point.
This situation happens exactly the same way every single time that it does happen.
I understand that it happens on the most intense of rounds and I cant blame it that it crashes. The lingering effects are what concern me as I have not experienced this in any other game.

    Windows 7 64bit
    Intel i7 860 2.6ghz quad core.
    8 gigs ram
    NVidia GTX560ti 1gb
Sound card is an external Komplete Audio 6 production Audio interface, the interface itself is not crashing, lights operating as normal. Seems more like windows wont play any of its own sounds.
Its not the greatest PC but it holds its mettle in every game I throw at it running high settings
As I have said before I expect this crash and understand the lack of optimization.
I keep PA's settings low as I do with most RTS games.

Not sure if posting this will get any feedback, want to see if others are getting lingering effects after rounds, and this issue seemed unsuitable for the tracker. I usually restart once every two rounds because my computer seems very unhappy after running PA in large rounds.

    Cheers

The first thing that comes to my mind is that this is or something similar happens when PA ends up using all of my 16GB of ram. As I don't have a paging file enabled it basically results in out of memory errors not only in PA but in all sorts of running process, which can break anything at random.

Can you please attach your DxDiag.txt? It's give quite more information about your system.

Thanks. Actually you have very special audio hardware, so I assume it's could be reason of your problem.

I'll give you few ideas what you can check:
    1. Your drivers for external audio device is outdated:
Fast googling show that you can grab latest drivers here:
      http://co.native-instruments.com/index. ... te_Audio_6
    2. Drivers for you internal audio is outdated too (probably you have one included in vanila Windows 7):
You need to check what motherboard model you have in your PC (use CPU-Z for that) and then download and install all latest drivers from motherboard manufacturer website.
    3. If it's not helps try disconnect your external audio device and play on integrated audio card.
    4. Also try to monitor RAM usage and CPU/GPU temperature when game start lagging, it's easily might be overheating.
There is nice GPU-Z utility for video card sensors viewensors view

You just need to check possible reasons of your problem step by step and I sure you'll find it.

    Thanks,
I have a GPU monitor with fan control and PA has sometimes hit the 70degree range.
Usually idles at 54 in most cases, fan at max speed. However I think this GPU-Z looks a little more lightweight and probably alot better than what I have been provided with my card (wastes resources on silly "scanning graphics" that arent really doing anything.

I guess I'll have to look into the drivers for the Audio6. I use monitors powered by 1/4" jacks and not a standard 1/8th inch computer speaker system.
I guess it has been awhile, Native instruments isn't really known for releasing lots of updates.

The ram usage is displayed on my keyboard which is nice, and yes, late game it incrementally goes up once it gets past the 67% mark. 1%/0.5 seconds almost.

    thanks for the help.

It's totally normal temperature for card such yours.
It's also seems to be okay, RAM usage is only problem when it's near to 100% and system stating to actively use page file on slow HDD.

Nice! Most of problems with games is related to outdated drivers/BIOSes/etc. Try to keep everything up to date and you will have better overall experience on any operation system. ;)
