One of the things I like to do from time to time is turtle as a support. For the most part, I am able to counter assasins using hacked Shave ice turrets. A can out-heal a sniper, even when juiced. But the one thing I havent been able to conquer is the gunners mortar. Not only is this difficult normally, but when they are juiced they just WREAK HAVOK on all of my beautiful turrets!!

Here is the setups I use:

    1. RoF
    2. Skill recovery
    3. Armor

I try to air strike as well as grapple with shotgun for crowd control, but its all useless.

    Any suggestions?

hmm, when i saw the title, i thought you came up with a way, and i was eager to read. how disappointing...

the only way i could think of is multiple supports... and then multiple gunners with mortars, of course, undoes that... so having a sniper on your team that does his base-defence anti-gunner job is the only other idea...

No Headset: Mutter about how stupid, unskilled and poorly-raised your team is. Wonder why they're so busy scratching their genitalia. Mutter some more.

Headset: "Uh guys? There's a Gunner tearing down our turrets on the left side. The ones I paid for. Because you were too busy saving for a katana. Little help?"

    *Stony silence*

Sigh. Try and join someone on friend's list. Get killed. Respawn as Shotgun Support or Grapple Gunner and run around taking the mick. Dream of an invention that allows you to slap people through their Gamertag.

Honestly, I go for an Airstrike stick or try to sneak around them with my Shotgun. If you're lucky, your team will notice/hear your cries. If you're VERY lucky, they'll help you rebuild your turrets after the smoke has cleared.

And the rubble has been swept away.

Taking the mick = taking the p*ss = joking around and not taking it seriously.

When you're getting pubstomped, I find the best way to get a little revenge is to get some goofy kills. The first time I met Scented Midget, I joined a game on Steel Peel with a him as a Gunner running around the top ring. I managed to make him jump off the level when he was trying to avoid my Shotgun. I sent him a message saying "lol derp :}". The next match - Ammo Mule - he stomped me into the dirt as an Assassin, taunted after almost every kill, and sent a message to me saying:

    "lol derp :}"

I explained the difference between a derpage and pwnage. He didn't respond. Y U HURT MA FEELINS MIGET???

    That whole post was unrelated.

Yeah, when I am playing with randoms I usually have horribel luck. Either A. They dont have mics/dont listen to my pleads, or B, they try and kill him and get killed....repeatedly.

What it comes down to for me is when I run into a skilled gunner, he will ALWAYS out do me if I am playing defensively. Usually this also means he is good enough to get juice, and then lay COMPLETE waste to my entire base via juiced mortar.

A good assasin will deny our bots from progressing and make several runs at my turrets, If people cooperate and help with turrets, I can usually prevent total base destruction thanks to shave ice/easy crowd control.

An Assault will kill everyone in the base, but usually isnt a major threat to turrets.

A talented support will probably juice rush the base and I can counter with either a counter juice or grapple to limit the damage.

Snipers are predictable and never capable of mass damage.

Tanks are the 2nd biggest threat for me when juiced. Not only can I not CC them, but they can do some serious damage to turrets as well. Be countered with counter juicing.

But If I know I am playing against a skilled gunner... I usually give up and change tactics. either go offensive with my support os change classes altogether.

i wish i could counter juice against a tank. really, how do you do that? their deathblossom kills you in 2 hits when your juiced, thats not a big difference... thats 2 seconds longer than you woulda lasted anyway.

but other than that, id say your not giving juiced assault enough credit. easily 3rd worst juiced. he can kill pros like a shotgun can, xept long range, and then quickly switch to grenade and clear out 2 turrets easily.

Ice Traps and head shots are the bane of a juiced tank. If takes a few of them, but snipers have no problem hitting you with 2-4 head shots while you are ice trapped. This also leaves him open to assaults head crabs and air strikes, which will kill him if he is not properly speced, and has taken some damage prior to the explosion.

The issue most people have against juiced tanks is that they can 1-shot most of the classes as they enter grapple range. This reduces a lot of options to crowd control the tank. Not to mention, if I REALLY want to kill the moneyball, I'm going to deploy under a roof so i'm IMMUNE to crowd control and get the damage reduction from deploy AND juice.

That being said, a non-juiced Tank's Charge 3 is the best way to set up crowd control chains on a juiced tank. It knocks him down for 2ish seconds and immediately sets him up for a grapple. The tank also has enough health to survive a juiced death blossom while charging.

If you do use grapples, try to use the ones that knock him away from people. 4 People trying to gang grapple a tank will turn out very poorly if he does a charge + death blossom combo due to failed timing. Slam is really good for knocking the tank away and slowing him on his return approach.

Also, the tank can be grappled out of death blossom, and it will waste all of your ammo dealing no damage, and forcing you to reload before you can act again. Its probably the second most annoying thing to me as a tank player besides product grenades not registering.

No, no I have not. Out of all the capable players, a capable sniper is my least concern when playing a turtle support.

Sure, juiced assault can kill like crazy. But I'm not concerned about my life nor my teamates when I have a juiced player in my base. I am completely concerned about my turrets. If an assault is firing at me or chasing me, that means he isn't going to be killing my lovely turrets.

As far as a tank goes, people do one of two things. One, they focus on killing my turrets, which REALLY sucks. If I juice, and they are still killing turrets I will try and shotgun the guy to death. This only works when they are focused on the turrets.

If they are focused on killing me, then turrets, great!. It takes two death blossoms to kill me, and if I am juiced and healing myself, it is impossible for the tank to out-damage my heal. The only problem with this is charge...

Eitherway, I am always willing to lay down my life to save my turrets. When it comes down to it, the VAST majority of people will go for kills instead of turrets.

I should also note, that I am not that outstanding of a player, and have played against many of you forum folk. So take everything I say with a grain of salt.

I know whenever I face 2+ more of you guys Im in for a rough game and had better go gunner and upgrade to passive 3 ASAP to have a fighting chance.

heres that grain of salt you spoke of...

a juiced assault can gun you down from outside of hurtgun range, and then grenade at least 2 turrets down (3 if they are all lazors), before leaving.

a tank can kill turrets while charging you away or product grenade you, and/or deathblossoming in between (which still reaps turrets). plus, they can destroy turrets while waiting for you to pull out shotgun, and outkill you with juiced jetgun before you switch back to hurtgun.

its about multitasking. its bliss when your enemy isnt that competent to do it, but every once in a while you run into somebody who knows what they are doing. someone who has quite a few juices under their belt, and will do things right because they are not a juice virgin and its not their first time juicing...

Sure, its definitly about multi-tasking. But I have defended my base just fine against many of the people on the forums, who I would assume know what they are doing.

Anywho, looks like the only thing to counter the gunner mortar is teamwork...which is severly lacking in MNC...

most teams it doesnt even take juice to destroy all their turrets. i should have a title for destroying the most turrets without juice.

you know what would make a lot of balance, especially with people sticking a cucumber in their k/d to make it look bigger? make it to where after you juice, you have no endorsements and temporarily move slower. that way juice will be more of a cautious tool to use, and less of a way to score uberstreaks.

    Ok, back to the topic.

I use the same build you do. Most of the time, I can get them to back off with a few well placed airstrikes. Doesnt mean I hit them, but maybe I can get them to move off target long enough to get the overheal back up and, with any luck, get a teammate to harass them.

If that doesn't work, or they are under cover, on Lazerazor for example, I abandon the turrets. They are going to get destroyed anyway. the only ones worth fighting for are lvl 3 rockets and shaveice. This is why I usually only build lazerblazers. A 3.3 Lazerblazer can be hard to get to. They are quick, cheap and effective. Don't get too attached to your turrets.

The object is to destroy the enemy's moneyball. Since the update, they have to get bots in to do that. So what if you don't have any turrets. Go on the offensive, and push back.

If you're facing an experienced team, they can wipe out your turrets at will. Turn the tables and take the fight to them. You just might get their moneyball down while they are playing with your turrets.

The only way to out heal a gunner motar is two heal guns on the turret. That or juice up and heal it.

This is usually what I do. Any gunner who knows what they are doing WILL destroy my turrets, everytime. I slightly alter this build (switch Armor & skill recovery) when playing offensively though...
