Counter grapple

    I think if you pull this off its impressive but the other night a weakling Sniper counter grappled my Tank with level 3 Charge. At first I was applauding the sniper, then I thought about it some more.

    Should character "size" effect counter grapple like a Tank going up against an Assault in a simultaneous charge?
    Clearly character size has some effect there.

    Are we talking about timing grapple or what?

    For example. If Tank/Assault will charge on you... you can easily grapple him (requires timing) and you won't take any damage (timing!) from his charge.

    No.
    I think they should leave this Timing Grapple because It's the only one counter on:
    - Assassin's Lunge
    - Tank's Charge (at any level)
    - Assault's Charge (at any level... even LVL 3)

    Yes, otherwise backgrappling tanks and gunners wouldn't be as fun when you get crushed.

    By the way, a timed grapple is not necessarily a counter to a lunge. It only works when the lunge actually connects and it doesn't have to for you to be able to grapple. So it's just a question of who grapples first.

    To be frank I always thought that being able to grapple someone mid charge was a result of lag or a bug. In my opinion the counter to a class with a charge is to know their effective range and stay out of it, not to time press a button.

    On-topic:
    It's GAME physics, it's a GAME, hence, they want to make it fair for all parts, but personally I understand the assault and sin, but I agree in the fact that the tank's charge should overrule sniper's grapple, nothing to do with the size or physics, just the fact that the tank has a great power in close quarters, and it seems unfair if the sniper can outweight him even when he charges.

    Stop charging mindlessly, jump for a split second and all your troubles solved, make that a habbit.
    Though it's still stupid that if you want to actually chargegrapple as an assault you can be outgrappled.

    Counter-grapples? Possible, but overall a potentially worthless mechanic, but they could FUNCTION in some form, I think. Perhaps allowing skill grapples from gunner/sniper to counter grapples from the front, sans assassin.

    It would require a buttload of work to pull off, some new animations, and I don't think it would really be worth it. I think the fact that you got grappled should be reason enough to NOT have any form of counter for it. Grapples, for all intents and purposes, are really quite balanced as they are.


    Simply having class weights as a form of "realism" for the grapples making more "sense" isn't really an excuse to wreck any balance already in place.



    Also, can we keep the childish arguments to a minimum, Rob/Vlane?
