Source is from the blog, though I edited out the obvious racism http://rob.potatopotatoes.com/blog/

Grabbed Monday Night Combat for PC a few days ago. I played the **** out of the original X360 version and grabbed all the achievements but thankfully it seems MNC has a plethora of more content. Some I agree with, but many nerfs and buffs annoy the **** out of me.

For one, the tank is lame now. They reduced the range of his jet gun majorly; so much that in the words the jet stream is extremely long but only about half of the actual streams model does actual damage. So I could be poking people with the stream and not be doing ANY damage. And oh, they nerfed that too. So the tank is now extremely hard to play.

Likewise, they buffed the noob class up majorly. Backstabs on the armored classes are now almost kills; which means that nobody is no longer safe from a retard with a katana. As they can BS you and hit you once for a kill; instead of before when it took half your life and you could simply leisurely end their misery between the eyes. Facestabs seem to do just about as much damage as a BS now, which is also bullshit. They basically rewarded being a noob!

Everything but the supports health and Heal/Hurt gun is better then it used to be. Hacked turrets feel better, the firebase is still badass, and thankfully art strikes are still handy. You would think they would nerf everybody but the mute fanservice noob class.

Now that reflexes can be quicker, the Assault is as fast and annoying as a TF2 scout, but add in atleast three ways to instant kill you and you will hate them instantly. They can be a traditional noob-charger, by leveling up their charge and knocking you out of the park. They can be a nader, using their sticky bomb for a 1-hit kill every time. Or they can be a doublenader, and 2-shot you with their grenade launcher. The class is simply broken if a player is good enough to get past the clunky PC controls.

Honestly, the game didnt translate too well to PC. The game feels way too fast paced to be third person. BUT DONT GET ME WRONG HERE and hear me out. I have reasons for saying this. I generally like third person games, but it cant just be applied to anything. The game features lots of aggressive, bright colors such as purples, blues and oranges. In a first person view you are seeing much less of it at a time and therefore its less glaring. But in third person as your whipping around constantly and trying to profile targets it can be difficult at times to notice subtle things like support boosted bots or invisible noobs. I oddly remember there being some sort of first person in the console, but when I looked at the options on pc and saw a Change Camera button I rejoiced. Only to hop in-game and mash it without any effect whatsoever.

The game even managed to actually be a bit laggy on my computer. Which makes sense because though the art style is similar to TF2, it was not originally made for a platform that had a variety in hardware; and as such not all of the modeling and texture techniques are truly optimized for the PC. I have hopes that in time these errors will be fixed, as Uber has proven that they are still updating the game much like TF2 still gets updates.

The gameplay tries to be way too fastpaced then it actually is. many recharging activated hazard traps, and many of the characters boast excellent running and jumping capability while only a handful of weapons are really designed for such combat. The supports Heal/Hurt gun is a prime example, however compared to all of the other weapons its damage potential is suspiciously lackluster and its range is extremely short.

Other weapons, such as the noobs Shuriken launcher are there simply for the sake of having a weapon and are more or less useless. Granted, there are only one or two of such useless weapons but the Shuriken launcher is a big mention.

The Noob is only really playable one way. Cloak and then grapple. The Shuri-gun does negligible damage, fires in more or less a straight sniping line for no damage, and can be dodged fairly easily. The class itself is just broken, gimmick-filled, and should of been reworked long ago. Its really just their version of the TF2 Spy. And it doesnt work.

The game is supposed to be somewhat like Third Person Shooter DOTA. Sure, some of the turrets need buffing but they are nonetheless well designed. The classes all have very good defined roles and each and every one of them can be valuable in a team based battle.

.Then you have this chick. The only way to play her is as a one-trick pony. Her ranged weapon is useless, all she can do is ambush you in HOPE for a kill before everybody blasts her away. She has the lowest health spread around and generally is lacking in attack potential. In short; the true definition of a solo-fighter. There are many other games where this could work, just not here.

So what results is you have so many classes designed to work together in some way; be it all shooting in a line or focusing fire to the weak rogue style character that is designed more or less to work alone. The TF2 Spy can atleast weaken the front lines and cause panic; allowing the heavier characters to mow down easier but the assassin is just a damn joke character. Its actually safe to just ignore her while the supports turret kills her instantly and keep fighting.

This has always been my biggest beef in the game, is rewarding being useless to your team. I am sure if I were to put this on the Uber forums tons of people would go WTF noob Assassin are best. Never play with those people, they play a noob and will ruin all your teamwork instantly.

I didn't get past the third paragraph. The guy has no clue what he's talking about. Looks like he perused some patch notes and made ridiculous assertions about classes being broken or overpowered.

Alot of it is kinda psychobabble but he does get one or two points right, like the assassin class. I wonder how long he has actually played though.

    Lol @ useless shuriken launcher.

I hope he keeps playing haha maybe he will see the error of his ways. Time devotion is necessary for a game with a learning curve like MNC.

I can see where he's coming from with the arguements against shuriken launcher. It's hard to lead with, and only really good against bots, for spray and pray tactics against low health opponents, and stationary targets.

I think he missed the part where killing turrets and firebases was one of assassins main jobs. Not to mention those poor deplyed tanks and gunners, and that odd sniper with the reflexes of a brick.

At least you realized it's Dove. When I play games on 360, everyone reads the "o" as an "a" and I keep hearing, "Hey, Sunny Dave, do you have a mic?"

Also, you make a cameo appearance in one of my latest videos if you haven't seen it.

Why is this even posted on here? It's a useless rant by someone that hasn't played the game.

    Oh snap.

/Derail aside, no reason to discuss this. Let the thread die or maybe a mod or admin will delete it.
