PC players love to be able to configure as many things as possible. Having some setting forced a certain way that you don't like is highly annoying and can cause quitting. Here are some of the things I consider essential: - Invert Mouse and mouse sensitivity (obvious, total fail if these aren't included) - Remappable Keys (confirmed already) - FOV. A narrow FOV is one reason a lot of FPS players hate console shooters. Please make FOV configurable! It needs to be able to go higher than the 360 version to feel right on PC. (FOV = Field of view, how "zoomed in" the camera is) - Mouse Acceleration. A checkbox would be acceptable. A slider bar would be awesome. - Mouse smoothing. Some people don't like it, but maybe some people do. Give an option instead of forcing it one way or the other. - Video options. Some are obvious, like resolution and antialiasing. Just make sure VSync and triple buffering options are exposed, since they can affect input lag. - Server favorites list. One of the great things in PC games that's lost on console is the formation of mini communities on particular dedicated servers, where you can see some of the same people more frequently and get to know them. Help make it easy for this to happen
Re: Configuration Agreed on all More configuration is always better. Fov should have a max though. Or else some people would walk around with like 200 fov, get sore eyes but are able to see almost anything
Re: Configuration If FOV is defined vertically, then 100 would be a reasonable limit. If it's defined horizontally, maybe 140 due to widescreen monitors
Re: Configuration mouse smoothing and mouse acceleration are real game breakers for me but ussually the community makes fixes for them, but they shouldnt even be there in the first place imho FOV is another very good point and the ability to view available servers like in css and tf2 instead of always bieng auto assigned into games would be another good feature
Re: Configuration Having those settings as requested in this topic is good. Because normally when games come from consoles they have forced smoothing and accel. So if there is an option for it you can just switch it off
Re: Configuration Dont lose hope, aussie servers will be there at the start, its up to us to keep them populated though
Several of these are already in, some aren't and will likely be added. FOV is a curious one. When playing a FPS I personally hate console-like FOVs (usually 60-75 degree range) vs the usual PC FOV (85-90 degree range standard). However, MNC isn't a FPS, it's third person. It's something we'll look in to, but I wouldn't expect it to be in for the Beta or even the real release. We designed the game with this FOV in mind for both the console and PC, so some of the game makes assumptions about this. It'll go on our list of things to look in to for the future.
I think you guys should go for the FOV you have now. In FPS you want to have as much sight as you can so its easier to see enemies at your flank as you only see your gun, but since this is a Third person shooter the rules are different. You can even see your back in this game and alot to your right and left. I think it will work wonderfull as it is now. beside, if you had bigger FOV the Assassin would be at disadvantage. I think with the PC assassins will have a harder time. PC players have headsetts which helps them track the cloaking sound and can turn instantly. so yea, they are going to work real hard for their kills^^ Wonder if i can do "stairgrapples" in this game. Just like in TF2.
Game looks really fun.. Agree with everything the OP said But I wanna stress that an option to take out Mouse acceleration and mouse smoothing is a must for many pc gamers. -Will there be a server browser? -Developer console? I want to specify the exact sensitivity number value I want in game. -Customizable crosshairs and HUD would be great too. -Customizable graphics so people with low end pc can enjoy your game. Looking forward to the beta
Ok, a followup question then.. as it is now, is it Vert- or Hor+? Meaning, if you add horizontal resolution while keeping vertical the same (like going from a 4:3 monitor to 16:10, or using a multi-monitor spanning setup), do you gain horizontal viewing angle (hor+) or lose vertical viewing angle (vert-)? Hor+ is preferred http://www.widescreengamingforum.com
Vert-, like Gears of War. It's the default for Unreal engine, and for console it makes a bit more sense since restricting the FOV tends to help a lot with reducing how much is rendered. 4:3 aspect ratio is a lower resolution so showing more for those players is unlikely to impact performance. For the PC, it'll be something we'll be looking in to, just like being able to modify the FOV, but I can't make any promises about time frame.
oof, time to see if I can get my monitor and nvidia drivers to play nice with custom resolutions somewhere between 4:3 and 16:10..
resolution needs more options/work. my monitor is 2048x1152. it defaulted to a 16:10 resolution and dumped the game into the middle of a black border on my screen. highest i can go is 1080p, however adds a slight blurriness to the game having to stretch it up.
