Completion / Damage alerts for specific units / blueprints

    I thought it might be useful to be able to apply completion alerts and damage alerts to either built units or units in the build queue, perhaps with a checkbox either when the unit is listed in the build queue, or the unit itself is selected. Whenever the unit is finished the completion alert fires, and whenever the unit comes under attack then another alert would go off. I find PA is now becoming a lot more hectic to manage than TA / SupCom, partially due to the spherical battlefields creating so many front lines to pay attention to, but also due to the (current) inability to see view the entire map at once (I understand there are intentions to provide for this however).

    I think we need to consider how Sins did it with Threat reports and production reports. No offence, but making a specific factory "important" is a bad way to implement notifications. Every unit which is produced is important. Every unit which comes under attack is important as it indicates where a surprise attack is, or where your defences are becoming completely overrun, or which squadron of aircraft thought it was a really smart idea to land in the middle of a tank battle.

    OK so my use case is that I really need to get my Adv Bot Factory built so I can get an Adv Fabber on the field. Unfortunately in order to build it reliably, I need to queue it behind a ton of power, and to build that power I need to push my defensive line forward a bit with some defensive structures. All of a sudden I need to wait 5 minutes for the thing to even start building, all the while I'm trying to put out fires in 5 other places around the map. In this situation it's very easy to forget about that Adv Bot Factory getting built. In this situation though, it is by far the most important single unit in the game at the point when it is completed.

    I'm entirely unaware of Sins' threat / production reports however.

    @carn1x , sounds like this is something that obviously matters to you.
    Please check that GUI Mock-Up thread, we're currently discussing the Notification system.
    We're trying to nail down all the best suggestions to hand over to Uber.


    My suggestion:
    Give the player the ability to "tag" units/buildings to track in the notification system.
    - Nuke done.
    - Super-unit done.


    Hoping you'll be able to weigh in with some ideas too :)
