Correct me if I'm wrong but the intention now is to go 1 faction?

What if the game went in the direction of Advance Wars were the different commanders determined the uniqueness of your units and abilities?

Idea came up before. Kinda like how Age of Empires handles it.

personally I would like more faction but respect the budgetary limitations.

Your idea has way more scope than mine. I'm just tossing out basically emulating Age of Empires with mostly the same unit set, and a unique commander per faction.

Personally, I prefer not to have different stats/abilities between commanders; same toolbox available to all players.

If Uber decides to go this route though, I am worried that I may prefer one commander's stats/abilities over the one that I prefer to use aesthetically (to show off support of the kickstarter).

Here's a picture I made to illustrate my point (crossposted from the poorly named "Pay to Win" thread).

I checked, there's nothing in the rules that says a moderator can't also be a troll.

It's been confirmed that there will be multiple factions. One unit pool is not the same as one faction. I think this was discussed in the totalbiscuit video, but I've watched/read so many things on PA it might have been somewhere else.

I think I'm going to go back into my moderator hole and only pop out when PAX rolls around.

I know, and I have no problem with it, just interested if it's the case.

Seems to be so too, seeing as he knew there was already another forum with this topic, and yet a mod starts a new one with the same topic.

    Poly

I am going to call you Poly like Polly Shore.

Advanced Wars is fun. I like the commanders in Advanced Wars, and I think this is a great idea for a mod. Advanced Annihilation. You could even use all the advanced wars mechanics. I would play some games with you.

Everyone is very finky right now about the balance. Balance and playability is and has always been a primary problem for TA style games. Making the game a single faction was an excellent idea.

Also, don't mind Zordon. He is terribly funny.

The way I've described it is that there is one toolbox. The toolbox can then be used by different Commanders to achieve different results, but they all have access to the same stuff.

The uniqueness then comes from how you play, and any voluntary fluff you want to provide as backstory.

There was little interest in stuff like an army painter, because while it allowed greater options for the coloration and appearance, it didn't significantly add to the ability to identify the profile and orientation of specific units, so it's benefit in-game is effectively neutral.
