Commanders Power Scale

    I'd like to preface this post by first stating. I have never really been involved in many forums. I used to Play Diablo until Blizzard Ruined that Franchise. And so I've never had that great of a forum experience. However I felt like I had a few topics to present.

    Sorry fi these topics were laready talked about. Like I mentioned im a forum noob.

    In the current version as far as I know the Dev's have mentioned 2 unique approaches to this game. First that you can outfit your commander, in some way shape or form. for instance to include "Lasers, ballistics, rockets"

    Also your drop "Egg" can be outfitted from the game lobby with perks of some kind so that a player can play a specific way from the start. helping to differentiate players

    I believe customization is a perfect design goal for PA. And as so I would like to commend Uber.

    The reason I post this is because I would like to encourage the Devs to take this a step further. Perhaps not at launch but overtime to evolve the game.

    For example. perhaps have a system where you can build custom commander and outfit him yourself. perhaps unlockables? or perhaps adapt a store for microtransactions where new comanders are made every 3 weeks or however long is needed. providing a new look. or skin. or perhaps a fleshed out commander builder.

    Another thing is I personally would like to see commaders as a kind of hero unit. Id like him to be powerful and interesting enough that he could create some interesting gameplay elements. maybe a perk tree? perhaps upgradable pieces?

    something that makes him very differant from what other people might have. so that perhaps not every single game has a player using the exact same stratedgy.

    Though balance. is key and I would in no way sacrifice that for anything. it would be interesting for instance. to have unlockable Uber units. Ones that you can pre select from the game lobby.

    Something to give your profile or commander a sense of class. or strategy. a build maybe.

    Company of heroes does this relatively well yet not near enough fleshed out with swappable units. All are balanced. and have benefits and negatives. but it helps the game feel slightly differant.

    Overall Im glad that the game doesnt have multiple tech tiers or a ton of experimentals. That way all the units will see more play. However some would be fun. at least a couple of interesting appraches or using the enviroment and im glad this is going to occur.

    if anyone likes the idea of customizeable commanders a perk system or builds. Please comment with Idea's

    I am only here for constructive criticism. agree or disagree try not to be rude. Id rather not feel like this is a forum like blizzards are.

    I kinda forgot another part of my intention with this post.

    What should the desirable amount of power the commander unit hold be?

    A starting unit? upgradable? Hero-esqe unit?

    reason for and against.

    Based on your post, I think you'd love Zero-K, it has pretty much all the things you mentioned (and it's free)

    You should give it a try, see if it's to your liking.

    False, Commanders can not be customized, instead there will be a larger selection of commanders, each commander will have 2 abilities selected from a single ability pool at time of development to differentiate them, we don't have any solid knowledge of what these abilities will be like at all yet.

    Can you find me a quote for that? the impression I got was that each commander was more like a skin and from that you could pick whatever it did. However I guess its not that differant however either way. the basic consensus is there is a choice. which is really what I am getting at.

    The ability to choose a build around which you can develop a playstyle I think is important.

    In the Backer Lounge there is a thread on the second page called 'Commanders and What we know so far" where all of the up to date info is kept, I might be re-posting that here as my request to get it moved seems to have not been noticed.

    You are correct that it is technically the same effect, but the info we have so far is that it's not customization.
