Commanders, AI and servers.

    So my last post with some questions was answered quickly and simply, I hope I can say that again anyway. Every second of every minute of every hour of every day I think about this game, the screenshots and gameplay videos are torturing me, I mean look at all these cool models.

    Anyway as I think about the game I always generate questions and here are some, like I said in my old post these might of been discussed before but i'm just going to stick all the questions here to save space.

    1. In SC2 the commander is a very valuable unit with it's own tech tree and special abilities and builds things faster than any other engineer. In Planetary annihilation what can the commander do? What makes him stand out and not be a slightly oversized engineer?

    2. AI, will there we settings like hard, middle and easy?

    3. Making your own server, so I heard you can make your own server with your own rules. What does it mean by make your own rules, does it mean exclude certain units, control the economy or activate deactivate a unit cap?

    I hope someone can answer these questions, also is there a way to find out when the livestreams are, is there a time like every friday at 5 or something, I don't want to miss out?

    with an attitude like that you're going to be disappointed. i'm not saying you should lower your expectations, but maybe do some research about facets of the game you're interested in. this is a good source: viewtopic.php?f=61&t=42948

    also if you haven't played total annihilation or supreme commander forged alliance (i assume you have but just in case) you should play those games to get an idea of what to expect

    1) uber-gun, regular gun, and of course if he dies you lose. we'll see more specifics in the future

    2) i would be surprised if there isn't, a well-known ai programmer named sorian, ---i stand corrected---, is designing their AI.

    3) i'm sure it means something like ForgedAllianceForever.com running mods and customizing game settings will probably be a function of some sort of lobby

    4) livestreams are announced on the forums and PA site

    False, Sorian did not design the SupCom2 AI, he basically just optimized it not unlike what he did for his FA AI Mod, the difference being that he had a lot more control over what he did as he had access to the engine.

    Considering what he's accomplished with such limited tools, it should be interesting to see what he can do when he's in control from the ground up.

    Just so you guys know Sorian has far surpassed just writing the AI. A ton of the actual unit code is written by Sorian now including all basic commands like attack, movement, patrol, assist etc. He is awesome.
