Commander Miniatures

With the reveal of the 12(?) new commanders what is the status of the commander minatues you get for backing at a certain level? Will we get all of them or just the original(Theta, delta, alpha) or can we pick the ones we want?

Nothing has been said on these aside from them being a reward. Same goes for the Commander Statue at the 500$ Backer Pledge.

It would be nice to be updated on these if possible.

If you are savvy with 3d studio max you can try to import the models from the game into there and export them into .STL format. Then just 3d print them and paint them up!

I extracted them rerigged them and cleaned up the models. The only problem is I am not to good at texturing and the textures they provide are just green so that they can have team colors.

Then you've already done all the hard parts! You don't need textures for 3d printing, all your models will come out uni-colour (same colour as your material). for example:

after you print it up then use acrylic paints to paint them (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acrylic_paint) like any other miniture. For example:

Meh, to me thats an example of how laziness (not wanting to paint) can actually be more work (fudging around with 3DS textures from scratch). If you wanna stay lazy an not worry about painting try this:

Also, you might not have thought of this, but using a super small drill bit you can make holes throughout the model to feed wires for LED lights in key locations, attached to a watch battery in the foot or something

That would be pretty awesome. Red LED in uber cannon and in head as well as green LED in the nanolathing arm.

Eventually PA Matches is going to sell licensed PA merch, and commander/unit miniatures is one of those.

We have 3d printers now that can print in color and with a ton of detail. You can even make one out of a Lego set. Why paint by hand?
