Hello everyone, I thought it would be way cooler if the Commander's destruction would deal huge damage in the area of its explosion, to both player. It would allow more strategy from both sides like we did in Total Annihilation.
Apparently a lot of people believe it'd cause team games to devolve to people just throwing their comms into the enemies area.
Which did happen, the only way to stop a comm rush back then was to kill him as soon as he starts walking to your base, no to mention that fabbers/other comms would heal eachother and rush bases all day (thankfully the commander isnt as repairable as before) Also when they added 40 man teams for a small period of time, everyone comm rushed like crazy!
Well yes and no, the real reason commander rushing happened was partially because air transport was t1, so people flew their comms every which way. Honestly I still wish commander explosions made sense, they barely deal any damage what-so-ever.
