I was thinking about that we could have some sort of Commander abilities to make the game more interesting. There was a Thread from @KNight that this game is too basic, this would help to improve the diversity in this game and could be a cool gameplay feature. I know many people probably would not like this I think, but everything is possible to balance, so this cannot be the issue. We already have the uber cannon as special ability, but I think it would be cool to have more of these, like a beam laser, for exact high damage or the ability to knock down every enemy in a specific area. What are your thoughts about this idea? Give it a chance.
I like the idea, but uber has already confirmed that this is not going to be present... I believe it was too micro intensive, and/or hard to balance. However, we will eventually get different alternate weapons for the commander.
Yeas, I think so too. For the people who were able to create their own commander there was the opportunity to select one of three commander weapons, laser/uber cannon/ missile launcher. So maybe in The future... (?)
This was a big topic during January 2013 era, to the point that I made a thread compiling all the relevant info to try and convince people it was a good idea and debunk the "myths" about it as it were. Unfortunately it seems it might have still been deemed as something that's just not worth the effort right now. We might still get something like it later on but we'll have to wait and see. Mike
Commanders should absolutely get some abilities. It will add more depth. I personally like upgrading to an engineer type so I can build all of the structures with my commander.
