Basically they are launching a private space telescope that normal people can interact with. As you guys know I'm a huge space junkie and I was lucky enough to be able to give them some comments on their kickstarter (for some reason a lot of people ask me about ks).

Anyway check it out, you aren't going to see much that I'm as passionate about as this stuff. We make games but these guys are securing the future of man.

Sounds interesting, but 1 Million Dollars is enough to launch a satellite into orbit? Really?

it's all about the mass, the bigger it is the more it costs on a near exponential level

more mass means more fuel to lift, and the fuel its self is more mass needing, more fuel, so gets expensive fast, but a small light satellite could probably be done for 1M

Yes, they can do it for a million. Basically the satellite can piggyback on another launch. The satellites themselves are build to be as cheap as possible. They have a pretty interesting strategy.

I followed a bit this whole planetary resources venture, it's really the kind of project making science fiction closer to reality !

Obviously this stuff is hugely influential on the game as well.

And ya, already giving them more money than I should, but I am soooo excited for this for so many reasons, it's hard not to throw money at them.

This is very nice! A photo in space is definitly it's money worth.

Maybe not even as an easter egg. I was thinking about naming a unit after it (possibly the recon satellite?).
