Chat log when chatting?

Are there plans to implement a log box above the chat when you press enter to chat? A bit annoying missing messages from people.

I am pretty sure that chat will be reworked completely as it was thrown in quickly in the first few alpha builds. Before that the game had no chat at all, so getting in something quick was probably the topmost priority.
Also you probably know that there are already mods that let the chatmessages stay longer.
