    'Capturing' meaning?

By that do you mean converting enemy units to your own? That feature isn't even confirmed for vanilla PA. So the chances of Uber adding it before 1.0 is minuscule.

Quick question because I don't feel like making an entire topic for it: Does anyone know if you can pick up enemy comms with an astraeus?

    Like, structure/unit capturing?
    I don't think it'd be really useful.
Apart from stealing metal spots I guess, but eh. It's quicker and easier to just destroy mexes.

Used to be able to, it was patched out back in Beta.

I remember Neutrino saying he wanted it as a feature. This is poo.

(Sorry for derailing your thread, burrito boy)

I want to help, but I'm not really sure of what you're talking about, my man. Can you clarify a bit?

As far as we can tell, he's talking about a feature that converts enemy units/structures to your team. This was a feature in supcom (probably other games, but I'm not well versed).

Commanders in total annihilation had a "capture" ability that allowed them to take over any other (non-commander) unit if they could stay close for long enough. It was mostly only useful for taking over another faction's construction unit to unlock the other tech tree, which isn't really important in PA.

Ah. Thanks! I don't see that in the cards at launch, if that helps burrito.

It would be kind of pointless as Cpt. Conundrum said. Also, if we were able to capture a factory with an orbital fabber that would be kind of weird...and kind of cool.

I don't think you'd be good at Poker, Brad. You can't hide your ego ;)

Thanks for the reply Brad :)

It's been in Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander, so I was hoping it'd appear in Planetary Annihilation.
I think it'd be useful for capturing enemy economy buildings (if it were more cost-effective than blowing them up).
Also when/if neutral buildings are placed on maps (as was suggested for Metal Planets) I think the feature would be useful.

In short, I disagree it was/is a useless feature. There are entire missions in Total Annihilation where you couldn't build factories or resources were scarce and it made sense to capture enemy buildings. It's like not having the Reclaim/Assist functions.

As for those saying it was unconfirmed, I was curious as a while back there was talk of an icon for it somewhere in the game files.

As has been said already, without any extra units to unlock it would be pretty much superfluous. Not only that, but I've played a lot of Forged Alliance online, and I can't remember a game where anybody captured an enemy engineer and put it to good use. So even when it's a good idea in theory it never gets used in practise.
