I just recently pre-ordered and.. kind of regretting it now x.x I know this game is only a beta but.. bloody hell Right now I've got a handful of problems mostly related to the server browser.. 1) 90% of the time I get 2 (if Im lucky and never more than two) servers for Crossfire gametype; and Zero for blitz every time; never seen one server show up for that gametype 2) For the games that do show up, the server browser doesnt work; I get weird stats like games having -22 Slots or 11 slots free and attempting to join the games will result in 1 of three things happening.. a) game loads then dumps back to the main menu with "Game is full" or "Connection failed" b) "Join" grays out and nothing happens.. can navigate around menus but I cant join a game by clicking "Join" or double-clicking the server name c) I join the game for about 30 seconds; then get "Connection issue" icon alert and game crashes with MMC.exe has stopped responding. Now for a multi player game; you can appreciate how this is pretty frustrating that I cant even demo the game. I've opened all the ports Steam and MMC needs (The ones listed here in the forums) and downloaded the latest version of the game (Since Steam forces you) anyone else have this issue (or even better a fix?)
Exactly what I just posted in another section. Multiplayer is COMPLETELY broken since the patch today. The game wasn't working perfectly yesterday either, but it's 10x worse today. I was having loads of server browser issues yesterday too, but at least I wasn't suffering any CTDs - today, it's nonstop CTD and the server browser re-defines the word "broken".
Read. The. Bloody. Forums. FIRST There are at least five other threads now on this forum alone about this problem. We all know about it, because it was present since the first build and has been exaggerated in this second build. There's nothing that can be done until Uber gets out a hotfix to sort out connection problems. To save you the effort of searching the forums yourself, I'll quickly point out the facts since you at least spent time writing out a big huge post that's clear and readable: 1. The server browser identifying servers is not broken. It's just that there are NO dedicated servers and everyone else has already known about the connection/crash problems and have given up. 2. There aren't any dedicated servers, so there will only be a few listen servers until that feature is available. 3. Blitz is like L4D's survival mode: It's not very dynamic and can get repetitive quick. It's mostly useful for learning the classes, but the real meat of the game is in crossfire. 4. Negative number open slots turns out to be connection attempts that are not dropped, which in turn becomes a server crash either on it's own, when it reaches -51, or when some pillock tries to re-join the server after it failed the first time.
MikeyTWolf; Why don't you save the attitude eh? While I appreciated that this topic has been posted a few times before this IS a beta and I figure that the more reports the developers get the better the idea they may have of what the actual CAUSE might be and; you know.. Fix it. You might want to work on your people-skills and how you phrase posts in future eh? dial down the attitude a bit. I took your advice and searched the forums, seems I'm not the first person who has upset you with their willy-nilly posting of issues they are having with the beta. Not cool; not cool.
Here is how you opened your initial message, and a segment from later on: MikeyTWolf is not the only one using "the attitude" here. If you "know" the game is only a beta, then it is foolish to make those statements. What is the point? An attempt to shame the developers into somehow fixing things faster, or just to insult them? In fact, if you really "know" what a beta is, why do you completely contradict that by getting "frustrated" that you can't "demo the game", considering that there is not, in fact, any "demo" to speak of? I know there are many games these days that release limited pre-purchase "betas" which are more or less purely just demos you're paying to have the privilege to access. Considering this beta came out 2 days ago and has already had a reasonably substantial update as of today, I think it's fair to say this is not one of those products. It is a beta precisely because those issues need to be addressed before the game actually releases, issues are already being worked on quickly, and if you're able to play at all during any given time of that process, consider yourself lucky. Of course everyone should be trying to play the beta if it's actually going to serve its purpose of finding and solving issues, but if you do find something that breaks the game for you, there's no sense becoming upset or frustrated about it. Report it and wait for the process to work it out. See, you clearly know what a beta is, so there's no excuse for your earlier tone, and it's especially bewildering considering the rest of your initial post was well-considered and reasoned. I'm not trying to defend MikeyTWolf here, just saying that I don't think the attitude is necessary on either end.
Um.. Okay? Thanks for taking the time out of your day to join the forums a hour ago and single me out....
People need to take a chill pill. Seriously. It would be nice if you posted in an existing thread to not clutter up the forums with duplicate threads. So please, next time do some research instead of creating more clutter.
realy its only a beta , two days old so there are going to be a few problems along the way with a lot of updates. at least they are doing a open beta.........
